Although the season is still young, Coach Pearsall has a good array of material. From last year's squad comes Don Doane, half-miler and consistent pointewinner ot last year. August Zimmerman and Iim Seigrist again report this season for the mile run. Ross Hilliard and Dale Fairbotham will do a fine job of handling the pole vault with Dick Hunter and Ioe Fontana holding down the shot putting job. For the dashes, Richard Patterson, Maurice Bailey and Harry Smith are back with a year's experience behind them. lim Young will hurdle and broad jump as he did last year. The new talent out this year will undoubtedly be a great asset to the team. Among those out for the first time are L. Murphy, D. Hilliard, R. Felton, W. Chapman, M. Darrow, D. Beebe, L. Sparling, V. Owen and H. Milliken. This year our schedule provides meets with Eaton Rapids and Howell. Other meets will be the conference meet, the county and state meet and other invitational meets at Hastings and Mt. Pleasant. . Tennis Q This year's girls' tennis squad, now being organized under Miss Hildebrand, looks forward to a successful season. The girls will play both singles and doubles. The girls out from last year's squad are Kathleen Baker, Margaret Sparling, Geraldine Hunt, Betty Bateman, Eileen Smith, fune Slusser and Dorothy Dietrich. Many girls are out for the first time this year to build up Mason's defense against schools that have had tennis squads longer than Mason. The strength of this year's boys' squad cannot be determined by this year's matches, because as usual the Anchora is published before the season is under way. The only one of last year's star players to return is Vance Mclntyre -but a lot is expected from some of the new candidates. The boys' matches consist of two singles and one doubles match. The results of these matches are averaged with the girls' matches to determine the winner of the meet.
