ti fp IX! aa ASDMAIJDL lg ANCHORA A XA aff 5 HISTORY OF THL CLASS OF 30 To the knights in the days of old Keeplng watch oer the mountaln height Came a vision of Holy Grail And a VOICE through the waiting nlght Follow follow follow the gleam We are like the knlghts IH the days of old Just twelve short years ago we saw visions of greater things perhaps not in the same light that we see them now but to us they were visions to be fulfilled We looked with admiration on the upper classmen and resolved to make our way to the top Doris Harrison Gerald Strlckland and Helen Zimmer are the three Oflglnal members of our group But through the years many others from surrounding commumtles have Jolned us Miss Titus guided us through the first two years of learning just as faithfully as she had guided others years before She soothed our bumps and bruises taught us our first readln and wr1t1n and rithmetlc then finally consented to pass us on to higher learning H M Silsby came to Mason ID the first grade Leah Diehl Jolned our ranks in our second year and Gerry Sawyer followed in the fourth Now to go back a little The unthought of disaster the fire came upon a quiet town in the dark of a January night IH 1921 Men women and children were wakened from sound sleep by the shrill blast of the fire whistle Flames shot like angry demons 1nto the cool air The frame of the old building stood out distinctly in the flood of light Then four walls collapsed It was lost to us forever 'Slot long after the fire school was called m the churches of the town while architects drew plans for a new and finer building and men were put to work to carry out these plans Our new home was ready for us when we entered the fifth grade What a beautlful building it proved to be the finest of all schools 1n the CO'l munity At the beginning of his fifth year in school Clrry St Georg discovered that the Mason first ward school was the place for him so he left the second ward to Join us Perhaps we witnessed one of the proudest moments of our lives the morning the rooms of the high school were opened to us as well as to the upper classmen Loren Leonard quletly took hls place among us Llttl did we realize what hls coming would later mean to our class and our chool Jess Curtis and Geraldine Palmer slipped in 1n the eighth grade Freshmen have a way of coming here from all parts of the countryside and thus our freshman year ushered 1n boys and girls of all descuptlons We have Cary Burns our powerful lefthanded pltcher Lefty s a regular fellow Gretton school sent him here But Gretton did not finish with X4-L-'27 4 1950 9 'f-,. 11 af 'ia - iff' :W . f' - off 45 5 fl, ' fait. ..' 5 : ' l ,inf x, ,- I 1 ,V I . ,Qt lf, i --,, .. nl.
