Hi Ili N Knrlmra llllh Valednctory Once agfun lt IS June and th1s June the good shlp 26 IS 'mchorf ci 1n the port of C raduatlon For four happy years our Jolly crew has salled the seas of hlgh school l1fe together and lt IS wlth mmgled Joy and sorrow that we prepare to leave the good shlp 26 forever Joy ln the knowledge of a task completed and 1n ant1c1pat1on of the adventures of the new voyage before u sorrow 1n the knowledge that never agam shall we be bound together m the close compamonshlp of the past four years Much credlt for thls first successful voyage IS due to our parents teachers and frlends who have falthfully and patxently plloted us through done the1r be t to furnlsh us w1th rellable charts and compasses whlch w1ll enable us to sall successfully alone But thls voyage IS ended now and the tlme has come when we must leave the old Shlp 26 and each captaln of h1s own shlp embark upon the longer voyage of L1fe Somewhere far off beyond the dlstant horlzon IS the mystlcal harbor called Success It IS toward this harbor that each captaln sets h1s course But the voyage w1ll be long and dlfflcult The seas w1ll often be rough and often there w1ll be storms of Dlsappolntment Dlscouragement and Dlsllluslonment In many places there wlll be treacherous hldden rocks and reefs of Temptatlon Some captams may be tempted to let thelr shlps drlft wlth the tlde or to allow Dlshonesty D6C6lt and Bluff gu1de them but beware' the tlde w1ll carry you to the port of Nowhere while Dlshonesty Decelt and Bluff are poor seamen and will gulde your shlp 1nto the port of Fallure Let us take Hlgh Ideals for our Chart Wlll as our Compass and let us place Honesty Determmatlon Falth and Perseverance at the helm They are trusty seamen and wlll gulde our shlps Into the port of our Amblt1OH And now the tlme has come to say farewell We are loath to leave the old shlp yet we dream of the voyage before us and we are eager to set sall But as we bld each other good bye and go our ways each to h1s own shlp let us remember that One shlp salls east and another west Wlth the self same wlnds that blow Tls the set of the salls and not the gales Whlch decldes the way to go Llke the wlnds of the sea are the ways of fate As we voyage along through llfe TIS the wlll of the soul that decldes 1tS goal And not the calm or the strife JANETTE SEVERANCE - ,O 4- .
