IH E S Knrhnra 1025 Pres1clent's Address Life has three seasons yesterday to day and to morrow Yesterday IS past and w1th lt our high school days All of yesterday that remains to us IS the memory of the Joys and sorrows of friendships formed there Although we cannot recover yesterday to day IS ours It IS a glorlous day of achievement the day toward which we have been striving for twelve long years The goal has been reached and ln the realization of it comes a feel1ng of happiness 1n something worthwh1le accomplished with a feelmg of regret and something of fear that now we must go forth lnto the world as 1nd1v1duals While to day IS ours the possession of to morrow depends upon our courage falth and strength to make it wholly our own The mysteries and pOSSlbllltl6S of to morrow are greater than to day s for to morrow extends Up to this time we have been mere passengers in the tram of life Our parents and teachers have assumed all respons1b1l1t1es as engmeers always fearmg for our safety and well bemg ever on the look out for broken bridges Wh1Ch mlght delay or even brmg the Journey to an end But the t1me has come when we find lt necessary to assume responslbllltles as engineers The pleasant care free part of the Journey has ended and the more difficult strenuous one has begun We must first know how to start The engine of success will remam immovable unless it IS fired with education and ambition Then after having gamed our start lt IS necessary that we know how to keep movlng and finally how to stop For if we know not how to apply the brakes are not qulck enough IH emergency all our knowledge of englneermg and all experience IS worth practically nothlng So class of 26 as we go out mto the world to night as lIld1VldLl3.l engl neers let us aspire through loyalty 1mt1at1ve and perseverance to the high and noble things in life to triumph ln worthy achievements and thus strive toward the making of a better world LUCILLE DISENROTH -A . 1-' 19 indefinitely into the future while to-day closes with the setting sun.
