M H S ANCHOPA 1921 Presldent s Address The past has been left behlnd 'lhe years of school l1fe filled w1th thelr joyous remembrances and lastmg frlendshlps haxe drawn to a close We stand on the threshold of l1fe eager vet reluctant brave yet fearful Twelve years ago we started forth upon our Journey a Journey guarded closely by those lnterested 1n our welfare The mtervenlng years have klndly brought us many of the Joys of l1fe the thlngs that call for mlrth and laughter and we have been klndly spared those thlngs Wh1Ch call for tears and sorrow Now we reallze that we must leawe this hxven of refuge We must encounter the thlngs of llfe that call for ste! ner quahtles The memorles of our school days w1ll ever be an encouragement and fx help to us for It was here that we were taught the lessons of frlendshlp hope and faltls W1'h1Cl'1 Wlll forever be lmprmted upon our memorles So far the path has been straxght and smooth Phe golng has been easy the obstructlons hate been few But now the path ends and many d1ss1m1lar roads of hte are opened to our VIQXX We must now glve heed to the symbol on the s gn ooard We know not whele these dlflerent roads w1ll lead For some the tra1l IQ up fol others down Some turn toward the east and others face the west WhlCh9V6T hlghway we choose the mtfxlls und temptatlons of l1fe are ever present On so l78l1l0Llb a Journey we must ex er be alert to keep on firm and steadfast footlng Vt e must strlve onward neu er backward W the severe school of experlence whose teachers accept no excuses and llsten to no complamts But wherever our paths may lead whatever may befall us we w1ll ever be cheered bv the thought that somewhere those that are dear to us tre ex QI thlnkmg and hopmg for our success and happmess May our achlevements alono th1s Journey of l1fe be hkened unto a beau tlful day The first famt stleaklng rays of hght whlch plerce the gloom are followed by the rosy llght Whlch ushels 1n the sun The east IS re vealed ln a bla7e of glory the b11dS awaken to sweet song the dew sparkles l1ke a varl colored gem upon the grass md roses All IS beauty and harmony Such a v1s1on has been our school days but now the sun ascends The wo1ld awakens The busy hum of mdustrv fills the a1r The sun cllmbs h1gher and 1n the blazmg heat of 1ts mldday glorv all thlngs grow and thrlve Such a VIQIOH 1S our mlddle l1fe But now the sun recedes Its rays grow falnter Its colors blend and mlngle IU the western sky as 1f a d1v1ne palntex had tued h1s wrt upon the background of the heavens The shadows lengthen A qulet hush of peace and securlty of rest well earned settles hke a benedlctlon upon the droopmg rose Such may be to us old age And when the mght and darkness come and from the rose the petals drop may we be unafrald and aw alt vuth happy hearts the Joy of that eternal dawn where we may once more clasp hands 1n frxendshlp true and wlth prlde and Joy of a l1fe well llved may our fondest recollectlons then levert to the happy days and lastmg frxendshlps whlch are the crownlng achlex ement of our hlgh school vears GEOPC F MCAT THUR Y T.
