The Homecoming festivities started on Oct. 9 with the annual slave auction. Nearly 30 brave stu- dents stepped forward, only to be fought over by high bids coming from bloodthirsty students of Ma- son County High School. Mike Saunders was the highest selling slave and the quartet of Libby Willet, Leigh Hackney, Kelly Wallingford, and Libby Willet, Leigh Hackney, Kel- ly Wallingford, and Linda Chouinard placed sec- ond. Caroline Keller and Suzanne Zweigart were the highest selling pair. Homecoming Day, the halls were filled with scuba divers, pregnant house- wives, football players, babies, and the list goes on. Singing in the cafeteria and kissing teachers were the more popular of the commands. Slave Day, 1980 is a day to be remembered as the school rang with laughter all day and the senior class was able to sponsor the best Homecoming dance the school has ever had.
