A HISTORY-Reliving the Past. in Square -dancing Te sting Eyes-Health Building Stn Learning to Drive 11 Mr. A. J. Woods became Principal of Mascoutah Community High School in the fall of 1956. He has won the respect of students and faculty through his friendly, firm and tolerant handling of school activities and problems. Mr. Woods received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Education degrees from Southern Illinois University. 5 He was Assistant Superintendent of Mascoutah ' A School. 5 A. J. WOODS Hobart C. Plab, President of the Board of Edu- cation, was born in Belleville on June 16, 1900. Mr. Plab has been a member of the Board of Edu- cation for twenty -seven years and has been President for twenty-five years. During his time of office Mr. Plab has seen Mas- coutah Community High School grow to its present enrollment of 360 students. His foresight lead to the planning of the present building which was completed in 1949-1950. Community Consolidated Grade Schools for five years previous to becoming Principal of the High HOBART C. PLAB ELMER O. RIESS HERBERT KNOBELOCH WALTER VAN SKIVER Elmer O. Riess has been a school board member for twenty-two years. He was born in Mascoutah on August 9, 1893. He is a real estate and insurance agent and at present is Secretary of the Board. Herbert Knobeloch, who resides on a farm, has been a board member for four years. He was born in Belleville on March 17, 1916. Walter Van Skiver, an Educational Specialist under Civil Service, has been a board member for four years. He was born in Nebraska on January 13, 1914. WALTER BART TELBORT WILLIAM T. WALTHES Zawwlafi ' Walter Barttelbort, who resides on a farm, has been a school board member for six years. He was born in Belleville on March 7, 1913. Clyde Burgard, land agent for Peabody Coal Company, has been a member of the board for three years. He was born in Sr. Clair County on January 13, 1920. William T. Walthes, an Aircraft Technician under Civil Service, has been a board member for six years. He was born in Mascoutah on Feburary 25, 1912. Hosea Whitecotton, a Postal Transportation Clerk for the United States Government, has been a mem- ber ofthe school board for two years. He was born in Sullivan, Kentucky on February 23, 1910.
