The following three were newcomers to our class: Ardis Broeker, Pearl Lamb, and Bessie Lanning. One of our first uncomfortable experiences was three long days of initiation. After days of wearing horrible costumes we finally became full- fledged students of Mascot. Jimmy Skiles came in the middle of the first semester and then left before the full school term was over. We chose Mrs. Sprague as sponsor and the class officers were: President, Keith Longsine: Vice-President, Robert Cook: and Secretary- Treasurer, Darlene Arehart. In September 1947 fourteen Sophomores enrolled at M. H. S. All of us seemed a bit more mischievous and rather less industrious than the year before. We chose Mr. Corneer as class sponsor and the class officers.were: President, Keith Longsine: Vice-President, Robert Cook: and Secretary- Treasurer, Pearl Lamb. We chose blue and gold for class colors, White Carnation as our class flower and We Choose Our Way , as class motto. Our Junior year we lost one of our class, but it proved to be a very busy and memorable year. We presented our class play, After All It's Spring , and gave the Junior-Senior Banquet at the Oxford Legion Hall, where we carried out the Good Luck theme. Class officers were: President, 'Robert Cook: Vice-President, Darlene Arehartg and Secretary-Treasurer, Virginia Ventling. Mr. Renner was chos- en class sponsor. Last fall we all returned to become the All-Mighty Senior Class of 1950. We presented our class play, You'll Die Laughing , in February. Our class sponsor is Mr. Menagh and class officers are: President, Pearl Lambg Vice-President, Darlene Arehartg and Secretary-Treasurer, Beverly Lueking. The members of our class who have attended all twelve years at Mascot are: Charlene Ludeke, Beverly Lueking, Keith Longsine, Lloyd Rawson, and Robert Cook. 10 Class Will We, the class of 1950, of Mascot Consolidated High School, the County of Harlan, and of the State of Nebraska, being of sound mind and body after four strenuous years, do hereby make, publish, and de- clare this our last will and testament: hereby revoking all former wills, bequests, and devices of whatever nature or formerly heretofore made by us. We, the Senior Class, will to the Faculty our vim and vigor. To the Juniors, we will our seats in the assembly, and may all of them be filled next year. To the Sophomores, we give them our willing ability. To the Freshmen, we will our dignity and neatness. Lloyd Rawson, wills to Rex Cook his careful driving and the abil- ity to drive with one hand. Pearl Lamb, wills to Kathleen Mann her ability to take her re- sponsibilities so leisurely. Eldon Shield, wills his motto for a healthy, better life to Dale Brand. Beverly Lueking, wills her ability to spike in volleyball to Carla Broeker. Bob Cook, wills his ability to get dates with Joann Schroeder to Harold Shield. Ardis Broeker, wills her passion of getting and maintaining num- erous boy friends to Dorcel Upson. Bud Longsine, wills his Chevrolet driving to Dean Arehart. Charlene Ludeke,, wills her ability to get a date anywhere to Delores Deitz. Stanley Luke , wills to the less studious pupils, his ability to make English Class an interesting one. Donald Ekberg, wills his speeding ability in football to Gerald Sigl il Joann Schroeder, wills her ability to get along with the Shield boys to Marilyn Clayton. Virginia Ventling, wills her height to Shirley Sandquist. Darlene Arehart, wills her smile to Irelee Luke . She trusts he will put it to good use. lZ Senior Class Prophecy The Juniors of 1949-1950, decided they would look into the Crystal Ball, see what the Seniors of 1949-1950 will be doing in 1955. As it is very foggy we can not see very well, but wait, it is getting clearer and our first gaze is at a radio station, Clint, C-L-l-N-T, Texas. Here we hear Bob Cook singing Mule Train. Between their advertisement of their products, they say he is doing quite well. As we leave this radio station our next gaze is upon a small mansion in the booming village of Atlanta. Here we see Lloyd Rawson, who waited for three years to marry Patricia Yerion. They were married last June. Lloyd is in partnership with Mr. Yerion at the Atlanta Oil Station. We now leave Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rawson, and our next gaze is on a little Red Schoolhouse. The teacher of this school is Miss Darlene Arehart. Darlene has gone to college for four years, but will she continue her career as a teacher, or will she quit and take up the art of housekeeping as Mrs. R ay Smith? As we leave the little Red Schoolhouse, we go to the beautiful state of Wyoming. Here we see the ideal man, Stanley Luke. He has a lovely home and a large ranch. He is now looking for a dear little wife, so girls beware, for he is known to be a wolf. As we drift away from Wyoming, we come back to a farm southwest of Oxford. where Mr. and Mrs. Harold Shield make their home. It seems .Toann's plans were to become a teacher, but after a three year engagement to Harold. they were married last year. We drift away from this happy home to gaze upon a farm northwest of Orleans. The owner of this farm is Mr. Donald Ekberg. He and Miss Anita Lueking are to be married in the spring. From this farm we next look in on Mr. Eldon Shield, who has finished patrolman school. He is now a very high class patrolman. Many said he took this course so he could protect his girl Marilyn Clayton. and also to be able to watch over himself: especially on Friday nights. Our next gaze comes to a rooming house in Lincoln, and on the porch swing we find Miss Beverly Lueking and an old acquaintance from Bertrand. It seems that Beverly had to go to college to get better acquainted with him, and it looks like she's doing very well. As we are leaving Lincoln, we come to a small home. Rented by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Eisenbarth: on the lawn there are four lovely boys. It seems Mrs. Eisenbarth, formerly Ardis Broeker, must have changed her mind, or else he gave up hot rods: for in her last year of school, she said it was either the hot rods or her. 13 SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY-CONTINUED Our next gaze goes to Oxford, Nebraska. Here we see Miss Pearl Lamb. She is working as secretary to a prominent businessman, and seems to be do- ing very well. As we leave Oxford, we go to the small town of Ragan, Nebraska. Here we find Mr. and Mrs. Dean Berry. Mrs. Berry was formerly Charlene Ludeke. They are the owners of a small clothing store. We now travel on north to Holdrege, Nebraska, where we visit Miss Virginia Ventling. She is soon to become Mrs. Lawrence Greyg Lawrence and Virginia have waited for quite a long time and it seems Lawrence has been promoted to a higher rating on the Kansas-Nebraska Gas Line, and can now make a home for two. As we go back to Mascot, for our last visit, we see Keith Longsine out working on his car. The rumor is that he is getting his car all fixed up for that last long trip to get Gay Applebee. They are to be married in two or three days. This is our last visit with the Seniors, and we will now put up the Crystal Ball, and leave on our summer vacation. 1 14 V Senior Class TOP ROW: llr. llenagh. Keith Longaine. Donald Ekberg. Scandal Sheet How Shall I Start This Page? was the main question in my mind. So in the beginning I would like to mention Rex Cook, our late Casinova or The Great Lover. Rex this year has taken quite an interest in girls from different schools such as Lela and Liz. How about this Rex? If you hear someone come in on Monday morning and start hollering, Oh, kids I got something to tell you, you know it's Dorcel and another weekend with the Holdrege gang. Now I believe we are far enough down the column to have a few questions answered, Oscar, whom did you invite to the Freshman Party? Lloyd, do you and Pat like to study at noon or why do you always head for the study hall? Harold, do you and Joann find Blondie and Dagwood so interesting that you have to hide behind that paper? Stanley don't you know enough to carry a woman's suitcase? Who are the three old maids in school? Bee? Dorcel? Ardis? What does Janis, Charlene, and Carla find at Ragan? It couldn't be boys could it? There certainly has been a lot of new romances this year. It seems the Senior boys have taken a fancy toward the Freshman girls. For a long time Shirley wore Bud's class ring. I've had a question in my mind for some time. Maybe you can help me answer it. Do you think Darlene will honestly teach school or will Ray change her mind? Anita, I hear you like roller skating parties, especially those the League has, Leland? Who are the girls from Red Cloud that Dommie and Stanley keep getting letters from? I wonder what they must say as they keep calling each other Chatterbox. I hear the Freshman Party turned out to be a great success. I guess Bob and Delores led in all the games. Has anyone been watching Gerald Sigl lately, I noticed him making eyes at Virginia. Well, I believe it is due time that I bring this Scandal Sheet to a grand finale. I hope no one will have the misfortune of being embarrassed or carry a feeling of resentment toward the editor of this manuscript. 36 Z 5flQ57NF3 5 3 E mwzwfgmmfws if Q' Q QL .w,mf-,uw 7 -f:gw'rf.-va-rn' Ag rf ,qe m'w:eQ- A .
