Dun- bar, pupils desiring to learn the methods of safe and good sportsmanship driving, have an opportunity to get first-hand practice and sound instruction. Through the courtesy of local motor com- panies and oil dealers, the class is provided with a drivers' training car and gasoline each year, Driving courses are extremely helpful in curbing the national accident rate through the proper education of youth, and Mary- ville takes pride in being one of the first Tennessee cities to have such a course in its public school. FYTIQBE HUMEMAKEBS With Mrs. John Sherrod, teacher of home economics, to serve as the adviser, the stu- dents at Maryville High annually organize a club called the Future Homemakers of America. Only those girls who have taken the subject at least one year in high school are now eligible to belong. When this club was started here nine years ago, it was merely a local group. Six years later it united with the national organi- zation and became Maryville High Chapter of the Future Homemakers of America. I3 i
