Between the hours of 8:00 and 11:00 p.m., many couples were shuffing in and out of the gym. Dancing, mingling, and coversing with friends seemed to be the main event. Couples, who wished to have their picture taken, were found in line patiently waiting in the hall. The main attraction was the unusual use of tumble weeds for the construction of a desert type Christmas tree. The dance was a success, but the night wasn't over. Couples would see movies or get a late dinner before the night would come to an end. Wit 'Usa' 'Q-fn .t ua: ii om. .. W if-it as ., 6 . UPPERCLASSIVIEN CATCH TRANSPGRTATION FEVER Having transportation is one major concern in a student's life. Owning a form of transportation is an investment and a large responsibility. Insurance payments, vehicle payments, registration, and licence fees are good examples of what a student has to invest a majority of hisfher income on. Not to mention, the responsibility of tune-ups, oil changes, tires, and keeping the tank full. All of these require a lot of time and money. A vehicle is a student's pride and joy at this time of hisfher life. A large line of cars, trucks, motorcycles, and scooters can be found on campus between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. each school day. American cars range from Chevys, Fords, Chryslers, American Motors, and General Motors. As for foreign cars, Nissan-Datson, Isuzu, Honda, Toyoto, Volkswagons, and Volvos were the most common. Motorcycles were among the Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Harley-Davison companies. , M45 519 L i .,.. ,, - . . LIFE ON CAMPUS elaxing on grassed areas and benches, visiting friends, participating in school sports, joining various clubs, eating lunch, entering in lunch time activities, sitting in classrooms, and spacing out were recognized to be a few of the activities that several students chose to do during or after school hours. Several students chose to ditch their classes because of various reasons and soon found themselves without a class to ditch. Those who decided to stick with school found that campus life consists of two semesters. Since the days went by so fast, several students were forced to get their act together to make up work and tardies, and study to pass exams. In addition to the classroom, there were activities to become involved in for all types of people. Mental activities to participate in involved dungeons and dragons club, chess club, and the computer club. Those more physical joined activities like the ski club, bike club, or the hiking club. For some students who could be seen studying in various areas, campus life was academics. Taking off lunch hours, breaking a date to go to the movies with a friend, and quiting an extracurricular activity allowed these students more time for school work. LIFE AFTER SCHOOL Walking out of school at 2:40, the memories of the day seemed to fade as once crowded hallways be- came empty. To some students after school meant going home and relaxing from a hard day. For oth- ers it was waiting around for friends, for that little rendevous. However the school day was ex- tended for most because of home- work and extracurricular activities. These students could be seen car- rying books andfor assorted para- phernalia. ACTIVITIES PROMOTED SPIRIT usic, games, fun, school spirit: that's what the new closed campus lunch hour was all about. Since the campus was closed, Student Gov- ernment provided entertainment to keep the students busy. Activities such as Do You Like Your Neigh- bor? , Musical Chairs , The Ba- nana Race , Make Me Laugh , and Sitting VoIleyball were some of the events enjoyed by both the participants and the spectators. Besides games, a D.J. was provided every Wednesday of the month with a variety of music ranging from pop to rock. A military band was also brought in to entertain the stu- dents. Ya 'N DANCE CONCERT EXH ILARATES! !! Dance has always been a fun, new, and exciting experience for many girls. However, three males, Bryon Obenour, Jarrod McGuire, and Charles Campbell entered to make it an exceptional year for the dance classes. All students could enjoy dance by attending concerts, both beginning and advanced. ln their first two dance concerts of the year, the advanced dancers came out like fire and showed off their ability as dancers to make the show exhilarating and fashionable. In all, the students have had a fan- tastic time learning, experiencing, in choreographing, and sharing a relationship with other students that will last a lifetime! Dance is mind and body working together to ex- press a feeling. Michelle Sharley shows her NUCELOGENlSIS towards dance! Teresa Cole consumed the stage with her grace- ful dancing ability. Different sizes and shapes filled the stage when the dancers performed. The color coordination and various styles caught your eye at a glimpse. After their excellent performances, the advanced dancers costumes flashed when they came out for their final bow. TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS listers, bruises, skinned knees, sprained muscles, and broken bones sound like too much pain for one person to go through. Several athletic students didn't mind the pain, as long as they had a challeng- ing match. Approximately 636 Mar- yvale students participated in school sports while between 500 to 600 cheered them on. A few more drops of sweat, several extra hours of practice, and a little more concentration prepared Mar- yvale for a more enthusiastic and victorious school year. Former king and queen Wayne Young and Tamera Hatfield were brought in by the helicopter to present the crown, tiara, and robe to the new king and queen. The winners were Undra Viverette and Jenny Tany. Undra Viverette was unable to accept the crown in person because he was playing in the game, so Dennis Sandford was brought in to represent him. All classes were accounted for at the time of the parade, but unfortu- nately the Sophomore float did not make it to the game. Students showed their spirit by rid- ing on the float of their class. Everything from high-water, plaid pants worn with a floral print shirt to tennis shoes worn with a dull skirt and taped glasses were displayed. Next came T.V. dress-up day. The most popular show was Miami Vice. The third theme was M.A.S.H. day. Many Rambo clones were to be seen, camouflaged faces and all. Costume day fell on Halloween so a variety of costumes were found. To end the week black and gold day was appropriate. Mary Helen Hurtado expressed herself on Hal- loween. During scheduled independent activity time, you'll have additional opportunities to visit congressional offices and sit in on governmental hearings. As you observe the business of government taking place, the things you've read about in textbooks and newspaper will spring to life. You'll begin to see government as an ongoing process in which you can play a part. TRIBES SHARE HERITAGE The Native American Club is composed of students from seventeen different tribes. Despite the loss of Varsity players in last years club, the new young team has sustained an even record in this years competition. At first board, Mike Macarle, the second sophomore in the schooI's history to play first board, has 3-3-0 record, an outstanding performance for a young player. They had a really special year. ACADEMIC DECATHLCN PUT BRAIN POWER TO WORK The spirit of competition was extended this year at Maryvale with the creation of an Academic Decathlon team, which provided stimulating competition for Maryvale. Students competed in three divisions Cvarsity, Scholastic, and Honorsj based on their grade point averages. Each division, or team, consisted of two members plus one alternate, and each school had its own coach. The competition was divided into ten events covering everything from required courses to fine arts and Super Quiz. The purpose of the Decathlon was to emphasize the academic abilities of the participants. There were no real losers, just a chance to broaden their horizens and for students to better themselves academically. The Decathlon was a great way to put some of the great Maryvale spirit and brain power to work. SNOW PROVIDED ENTERTAINMENT The Ski Club not only had a good time skiing down the slopes of Sunrise, Purgatory, and Telluride, but also had fun building snowmen and having snowball fights. The first trip of the season was to Sunrise on Dec. 14th and 21st. This was the first trip ever to be split into two days. Maryvale was able to rent skiis and buy other equiptment Cif neededj from Sunset Sports Center. The Purgatory Trip lasted two days and one night. The Telluride trip was three days and two nights. Time was spent in motels and on the slopes. For most of Maryvale skiiers the year was filled with sun, fun, snow, cold, and good times. EXCELLENCEIN PERFORMANCEH The Maryvale Band performed at a level not seen at Maryvale in sever- al years. ln addition to renovated quality, the band was also a leader in the revived school spirit that swept Maryvale! Everytime the band was at a football game they would get the fans going with TE- QUlLLA, better known to the stu- dent's of Maryvale as, Pee Wee Herman's Song. Maryvale Flag Line performed at their highest peak. At Glendale Community Col- lege, the flag line received a grade of a two, which is very good. When- ever the band and the flags were together they were seen at their best! Their performance was bet- ter than ever!! The Maryvale cheer line started the year before most of us even thought about shopping for clothes. They went to a cheer- leading camp over the summer and learned new cheers and chants. In order to buy new uniforms, the cheers sold pom poms, megaphones, buttons, and candy throughout the year. For one basketball game, the cheers and poms switched positions! The cheers danced and the poms cheered. Whatever the case was, the cheer-leaders filled our thoughts with excitement and spirit! Senior, Tammy Garmon shined a dazzling smile while giving three cheers for M.H.S. Panther Mascot, Paula Veach, displayed her win- ning performance by generating enthusiasm from the student body. -Q44 t STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE E Dancing their way through the W s' - year, the Maryvale Pom line had their share of fun and excitement. From football games to pep assemblies, the pom line could be found with energetic dances and smiling faces! J.R.O.T.C.. . .DOES IT AGAIN! Maryvale Junior Reserves Officers' Training Corp's 6th Battalion had been very busy. Many cadets par- ticipated in a trip to Pine Elemen- tary School, where they performed a military ceremony. All M.H.S. ca- dets went to Papago Park for a rap- pelling exercise. The cadets had a chance to rappel off Papago Butte. The rifle team was also busy. They attended a match involving all oth- er teams in the Phoenix Union High School District. They also traveled to El Paso, Texas for a match with 30 other southwestern schools. Next in line was the drill team. They performed in the Fiesta Bowl Pa- rade. Last but not least, the color guard appeared in a state wide competition and performed at the State Capital on Pearl Harbor Day. This has been an overall great year for the Maryvale J.R.O.T.C. The group went on hikes and camping trips to varous places around the state. We're a camping, hiking, exploring club that gives students a chance to really see Arizona, said Dr. Gayle Jarvis, sponsor. Dr. Jarvis stressed that the main point of the club was to study things that students might not normally get a chance to see. ln science classes you see these things in films but this way you actually get to see what you are studying, com- mented Dr. Jarvis. The first trip members took was on October 5th, at Beaver Creek. Next they went to the Chiricahua National Monument on November 9th. On most of these trips the kids get what they want out of them. I don't expect a prerequisite for them to go on the trips because I think this club should be for interest with no requirements to drive stu- dents away, commented Dr. Jarvis. Other trips were to Peppersauce Caves, Aravaipa Canyon, Payson Caves and Havasupai. EARTH SCIENCE CLUB Front Row: Joe Cervantes, Roxanne Munoz, Susy Rodebaugh, Margo Dolack. S.A.D.D. HELPS FIND SOLUTIONS According to the S.A.D.D. constitution, Students Against Driving Drunk is a club designed to teach stu- dents the pitfalls of drinking and driving. To learn more about the organization and to help solve the problem, members from S.A.D.D. attended a Youth Town Hall session where members from various organizations got together to discuss solutions to the problems. The members were split up into seperate groups. They discussed ways to prevent drunk driving accidents. A state representative was on hand to take their ideas back to the state government in order to find a solu- tion to the problem. The bad effects of drinking and driving are that a per- son could be involved in a major accident in which he could be killed, paralyzed, or severely injured. Stu- dents should take the responsibility to stop and think before they drink and drive because the consequences can be tragic, said Patricia Torsiello, club president. 5 5 s .P S WV A. Afterwards some of the group members visited Mr. Mahan at his winter home herein Phoenix. These events were covered in the Phoenix Gazette with a picture and a story. Her staffers always tried to run her down at her desk. She finally escaped and volunteered to go to the rubber room. Donna Durham, because this was her first year in high school, she became confused about which way to go and some how ended up in the pub. room. She's been here ever since, and for some strange reason plans on returning next year. Lori Miller, this was Lori's first year at Maryvale and so to meet new people she joined up for yearbook. Little did she know she would end up meeting a class full of hermits. JoEIlen Garcia, she was convinced to join the staff by Sami Armstrong. Sami needed someone to hlep keep her going. Anna Deleon, having nothing better to do with her life decided to join pub. ln doing this, she learned to print pics. Now all she wants to do is print pics of some Brophy basketball player named Jim. Darren Chavez, we couldn't quite understand her, but she was always saying chants. One of them was something about going around the world in 80 days. Julie Goddard, known for her outrageous clothing and can of hair spray, could be seen walking around in her Betty Boop T-shirt. The in-crowd consisted of only one new staffer. Chris Tafoya, this brave boy proceeded to become the object of the editor's abuse. This did not phase him, he was still able to produce pictures and pages. Mary Reed, a.k.a. the super advisor was seen running about frantically not knowing what to do next. The strain of commuting between two schools caused her to take all the pub. funds and fly to Hawaii. The yearbook staff was an in and out situation. After Susie Woods Donna Du,-ham plans to have another exciting retired from selling candy and being editor she passed the job to Sheri Knott. day in the wonderful world of a yearbook staffer. The out-crowd consisted of msny staffers. Those included were: Toby Cohea, the one who started out slow, but improved with each passing day. Mrs. Pamela 1SheltonJ Debarge. she graced us with her presence even though many didn't understand what she was doing. Joe Delgado, he was held back in our desperation but in the end we had to let him go. Brian Black, a newcomer from Paradise Valley, seemed to be afraid of Sheri so he got out by joining the newspaper staff. Babette Finley, she couldn't take the madness anymore, so like many other ex-staffers, was retired to the rubber room. Renee Moffatt, the super secretarylstaffer received a better offer with higher pay and better working condi' tions at Apollo. She thought of turning the offer down, but quickly came to her senses. The insane crowd consisted of those staffers who were brave enough to endure the strain of commiting themselves to the pub. room for a full year. These brave inmates were: Tim McMonigaI, for two years all that was heard was silence, but one day it was discovered in the darkroom by some unexpecting soul that he can speak one word . . . Yeh . Sami Armstrong, fellow staffers have come to the conclusion that Sami has been effected by her two consecutive years of pub. This suspicion was verified by her actions. She was always demonstrating the art of slam-dancing. Riding a bike is fun, says Joe Delgado, as he takes a ride through the pub. 5 li Af of 'tv v. ie- ... 4, Y 1 ff ag, A or .gig p ,ff YEARBOOK STAFF Front Row: Julie Goddard, Donna Durham. Mary Mickle replaced the irreplaceable Chris Fiscus for at least HE thought he was irreplaceablej. Each staffer was blessed with hisfher own abilities or inabilities. Steve Ramsey, a.k.a. Uncle Steve, had the ability to annoy everyone with his funny UD impressions and jokes. Once in awhile he would come up with a real knee slapper though. Pam Shelton, our social butterfly, enjoyed the reportingg it's the writing she couldn't stand. She had the ability to avoid work. Tony Stevens, on the serious side of things, stuck pretty much to the movie reviews and had the ability to put his editor into a wild rage Qwhich wasn't a pretty sightb. Donna Drennan, supported her editor all the way, whenever she knew which way Mary was going. Shawna Riley, the girl with all the questions and none of the answers, was a loyal staffer , but a chronic laugher. She had the ability to confuse everyone: even herself. Leon Keith, a staffer who worked a little, but wrote so much, kept the staff rolling in laughter with his satirical off the wall shots. Anna Deleon, a refugee from the Yearbook staff, added a little normality to the Newspaper staff, but not much! Lanette Kirk had the ability to organize, instruct, and keep the staff working, in other words, her job. By the way, what was her job? James Bagwell, who was often quiet through all this insanity, seemed to be the only normal reporter. Little did we know he was merely observing,' ready to notify the men in the little white coats, in case things got too out of hand. Then there's Evelyn Clark, who had the ability to work hard and keep Mary happy fremember, one MUST keep Mary happylj. We all knew her as the only staffer who could, put up with the ol'tyrant. Eric Bowser, a late comer to the staff, was often responsible for the editor's moods . He had the ability to confuse, torment, pester, hassle, irritate, enrage, anger, etc., certain staffers. That is when he decided to grace us with hs presence by attending class. We'll never forget Peter Alejandro, a.k.a., The Jolly Green Giant, who bore a strong resemblance to Hitler in his ROTC uniform. Peter possessed the inability to accept Mary's editorial authority, yet often gained the upper hand. Brian Black kept everyone amused with his Pee Wee Herman imitations, which were sometimes thought to be the real thing. Adviser Mary Beth Reed, who has been greatly affected by two consecutive years of unusual editors and strange staffers, has taken a permanent vacation. Where? We can only guess. Mary, at the tender age of sixteen, has retired to the rubber room, where she is under the supervision of psychologistfpart time yearbook editor, Sheri Knott. Maybe they'll let her out in a few months for good behavior. Special thanks to Chris Tafoya, Joe Delgado. and Tim McMonigal for their great work in the darkroom. Mary Beth Reed, Lanette Kirk, and Mary Mickle show their true personalities in between deadlines. There were electives to satisfy almost everyone's interests. Whether it was classes for the creative students such as drama, dance, art, wood shop, or metal shopg classes for the students who wanted to learn more practical skills were typing, accounting, home economics, auto mechanics, or child development. Whatever elective class the students chose, they could be sure that they would have met a lot of new people and have great memories to last them a lifetime! ON CAMPUS Happenings on campus took place during all hours of the day. Most students had more fun walking to and from classes than being in the classes themselves. Seeing a best friend or a 'special' friend was high- light of the day. Lunchtime also proved to be a favoriteg just sitting and talking with friends for a while seemed to make the day go faster when you were On Campus . . 5. With the closed campus that has hit Maryvale, the lunch lines were almost unbearable. All students, with the exception of some seniors, crowded the cafeteria and snack bar to munch during lunch and the change of the schedule in the fourth week of school did not help at all. For example, the students in Mrs. Reed's freshman English class, such as Rita Quintero, Steve Montano, and Shane Grieves, learned how to fold, stack, count, and sort newspapers. This activity wasn't all that bad because they were also able to read the newspapers before anyone else. Through experience, the class of '89 also learned how to stand in line patiently, to take criticism from upperclassmen, and to maneuver through crowded halls. All in all these experiences helped the 9th graders become a part of the scene at M.H.S. ORIENTATION This year, as in previous years, the incoming class Cfreshmanj took a tour of the instructional Material Center CIMC3. This orientation acquainted the ninth graders with the various sections of the library, fiction center, card catalogue, magazine racks, Reader's Guide, resource section, and vertical files. The tour also included a visit to the Audio Visual Center where posters, graphs, and tapes are made and where the close circuit television is operated. The television studio, where video tapes are made, was last on the orientation program. After completing their introduction to the I.M.C., freshmen knew exactly where to go, especially Mr. Salt's Class, when they needed information for their library papers or they just asked for help from Mrs. Charlene Presley. As shown by Freshman Jason Johnson, he has resourcefully used his bike and legs by necessity to get to school and home. Most freshmen do not like this way of getting to and fro, but it's better than walking. Walking is especially hard on rainy days because of traffic and water puddles. That is when the parents felt sorry and took - them to school. Which made rainy days a favorite day for all. Rubalcava, Veronica Rudeseal, William Rudnick, John Ruggles, Chris Ruiz, Christina 3 . Although they received their books free, they still had to decide what classes to take, what clubs to join, what athletics to play, and what activities to support. Counselors helped with these decisions and also with their classes. The classes were then changed and rescheduled to aid the students. Most freshmen chosed four or five classes with two or three electives. Some were not able to choose top, middle, or bottom lockers, though. This is the question that sophomore Beth Gimplowitz asks. Sophomores can have fun whether in or out of school. Sophomores found time for fun at many places on the weekends. One popular place was a teen night club, Tommy's . There they could enjoy pizza and soft drinks for a price of 355.00 admission. lt was a place to meet new people, show off their fashions, dance, and have fun. Another pastime was hanging out at malls such as Westridge, Maryvale, and the largest of the malls, Metrocenter. Fritz. Carolyn i Galbreath, Kevin Gammage, William T Garcia, Carlos Garcia. Since they were no longer freshman they had a class to rule over but still hadn't reached upperclass status. Sophomores looked forward to driving, dating, and being more accepted on the social scene, along with added responsibilities of being a year older. Merchant. Holm 205 PRINCIPAL OR PRINCIPLE? When we were in grade school we all remembered how to spell princi- pal because our teachers reminded us he's your pal . We all groaned and didn't quite believe it. Though with out principal, we can believe it. Mr. Wellesley C. Goodwin, in his fourth consecutive year at M.H.S. has tried and succeeded at making Maryvale number one. Each year brings new changes which add to the already swelling pride of the black and gold. Closed campus, which most students thought would be a disaster, wasn't at all. It brought students closer to- gether and this helped us to under- stand each other better. Shorter lunch hours were also a recent change, a bummer for most people, but it kept most out of the halls and into the classrooms. Mandatory pep assemblies were given back to eliminate the frustrations of most common teen-agers. 3 The school year wouldn't have run as smoothly as it did without the help of the assistant princi- pals. With Mrs. Dorann Thoreen Ctop lefty in charge of activities, Dr. Howard Shumate Cbe- lowj in charge of attendance, and Mr. Martin Ulloa fbottom rightj in charge of athletics, the year was a complete success. Mr. Wellesley Goodwin and Mrs. Dorann Thoreen look over the schedule for the first double-assembly of the year Cbottom lefty. ',,. M X .N,e,.w.eq mm ..c.w-sw,-este-Nt.s. Teachers who were sponsors or coaches for a sport or club found out that extra hours after school or on Saturdays were a necessity. The extra hours gave the students a chance to see the teach- ers in a different light. As for the teachers, it gave them a chance to help the students aquire better atti- tudes and learn responsibilities. Spending their free time at school wasn't always their ideal way of having fun, but is sure paid off when the coaches and sponsors saw de- finate improvements and victories in their teams or clubs! The class of '86 has become a part of history that will be remembered by all who made it happen. From the late night, last minute homework to the spirited pride for the school, these memories are a part of everyone. Maryvale has taught everyone many new experiences, and everyone has learned from their mistakes. Now is the time to face the future. Some will continue with further education, others will decide to tie the knot, and still others will try to make a living on their own. As everyone goes their own separate way to becoming independent, promises to keep in touch are broken but the hope of a class reunion is always there. i MQ? uuulllll ,,,...-an-- 'r 5 Editor Sheri Knott takes a break with Senior Eric Quiros. Being editor of the 1986 Panthorian had been a great experience for me. It wasn't easy at first, being ushered in to the position a quarter of the way thru the school year with only one year of training. Things were a bit rocky at first, but there were some very supportive people to help me make it to the end of the year. Now is my chance to say how I really feel about these peo- ple. First and formost is M. B. Reed. If it hadn't been for you I may have never learned the meaning of the words hard work . Thanks for your guid- ance and advisement. You've proved to me that I never want to be a yearbook advisor. Next in line would have to be Donna Durham, the up and coming freshmen. Donna, I have you to thank for keeping the book from ceasing to exist. I also have your understanding mother to thank for seeing me home so many times. P.S. Re- member the Jumping .lanitor ? I was told not to mention a certain someone so I'll have to address this next line to an anony- mous staffer. CYou know who you are.J I really do appreciate all that you have done this year. Even though it seemed like I was trying to make your life miserable, I was just trying to train you for next year. I know you'll do great as long as you never quit being a spaz. On to Lori Miller. Lori, you helped me where no one else dared to go, into my personal life. I thank you for saving me on New Year's Eve. You are the only one who has seen the true me. Thanks for everything. Who can put up with two editors and passify them both with a dazzling smile? Anna DeLeon of course! Anna, even though you knew all my faults from the beginning, you stuck it out. Thanks for trying to keep me sane. I think the method where you confused me worked the best. I must mention Joe Delgado at this time. Joe, I sure have missed you since you left, but I was happy to see you graduate. The darkroom just hasn't been the same without you. Thanks for being such a sweet Hex . Anyone who wanted to get to know Tim McMoni- gal had to visit the darkroom. Tim I deem you brave for returning for a second year. Who knew you would end up with me as an editor? If it hadn't been for you the yearbook would never have gotten to be visual. Thanks for your many long slaved hours over the chemicals. Julie Goddard was the part time, show-up when you weren't in the hospital staffer. Julie, when you were here, you were great and you kept everyone entertained. When you weren't here, we all wondered which one of Iife's mishaps caused you to be absent. Thanks for everything you managed to get done in between accidents. I have to thank JoEllen Garcia for always being so cheery. JoEllen, you never let anything get you down. I guess that was because you never knew what was going on. Cl wonder if Bill will read this?J Darien Chavez, the innocent one. I must say thank you Darien for being so quiet around me and for getting your pages in without having to ask me 10,000 questions first. I hope you decide to stay on for another year, they're going to need you. Renee Moffatt the secretary. Too bad you had to leave. You were almost able to stick it out. I hope you are happy in your new home. For the ever-yelled at Chris Tafoya I have to say you really helped me keep my sanity. I knew you were tough enough to take it. I'm sorry if you took my abuse personally. Thanks for being such a great help in the darkroom. Honorable mention goes to Brian Black the transfer student. Brian, I'm real sorry that you decided to leave, but your presence was appreci- ated Qeven if your jokes weren'tJ. P.S. Remem- ber N.A.S.A.? Now I must thank Mary Mickle, editor in chief of Panther Tracks. Mary, I have you to thank for being my alternative ride home. You also make a great friend even though it seemed that we would forever be mortal enemies. But as fate would have it, we became a pretty good team. Thanks for putting up with my emotional swings. Take care next year when you'll have to recruit a whole new staff. l'd like to thank Tony Stevens for letting me criti- cize everything he ever stood for. Tony, you know if I didn't like you then I wouIdn't do it. I do believe you will become a great writer someday. Peter Alejandro, thanks for all the time spent taking, developing, and printing pictures for me. You really were a great help in the darkroom. Evelyn Clark, thanks for all the emotional sup- port. It really helped me to get through the tough Elm Vxmear tlI'TleS. U ' A if - , ' i K Q,-LA,
