Fondly, We Dedicate The 1980 Viking To The Fine Arts Department Mrs. Shirley McCall Before teaching full-time at Marysville High School , Mrs. McCall was Art Co-ordinator in all of the Marysville elementary , junior high , and high schools. Her 25 years of service to MHS will forever be recalled as throngs of students enroll in the program offered each year , with each section being filled rapidly . While furthering her own background in ceramics , Mrs. McCall developed various courses in ceramics and crafts for our Art Department. This is a tribute to a great teacher and a great lady . Mr. Charles Salvo Since 1947 when an elementary student passed into the fourth grade , he has been allowed to begin the study of a band instrument with Mr. Salvo. It wasn’t until 1978 when the new band room was supposed to be ready that Mr. Salvo became a full-time teacher at Marysville High School. When several students requested a music theory class , Mr. Salvo stayed after school with them to teach it. Also , the Stage Band was an after-school and noon feature before it became part of our regular curriculum. As director of the Marching Band , he was a familiar face on the football field to students and townspeople. Thousands have enjoyed his Concert Band. Planning programs , half-time activities , arranging music , practicing after school - all add up to a fine , dedicated teacher. DEDICATION -3
