Travel is a Part of Education Pat Burley and Annette S child The 1975-76 foreign exchange student to Marysville High School was Annette Schild of Germany. Annette ' s native home is in Bad Honned , West Germany. During her stay in America she resided at the home of senior Mary Meinhardt and her family. While attending school in Marysville , Annette kept herself very busy by participating in Girls ' Varsity Basketball and Volleyball. She also was a member of Girls ' Varsity Club and GAA. Language was no problem for Annette since she had studied English for seven years before coming to America. She also speaks French , Latin , Dutch , and German. Annette enjoyed living in America and found it very interesting. Pat Burley , a senior at Marysville High School, was chosen as last summer ' s Youth For Understanding representative. For almost three months Pat ' s home was in the small village of Koniz in the Kanton Bern , Switzerland. Pat enjoyed climbing mountains , boxing and playing soccer He also won first place in an amateur curling tournament. Pat concluded his travels by hitch hiking to France, Italy , Germany, Austria, and Liechtenstein with his Swiss brother Thomas Jundt.
