The 1976 Viking Staff had an even more difficult job producing the yearbook this year. Over half the staff were new people, giving the old Viking staff two jobs their appointed duties plus instructing the new students. Mrs. Bellow, of course, had the most to do, staying up late nights, checking layouts before deadline, and answering all the how’s, where’s, and when’s. Mrs. Bellow, along with the entire Viking Staff tried to pack the 1976 Viking full of Bicentennial spirit. They all hope that MHS is as proud of the Spirit of ' 76 as they are. The comedy team of Sue Collard and Kathy Samuelson was finally destroyed when Sue was put on features and Kathy was assigned the news beat. Then there was Mike Will cm sen who served as two important figures- Uteramre and “Ann Landers. ” Kim Greenhoe, between eating her oranges, covered the girls ’ sports. Lene Pavlov , usually adorned in her over-sized shirt, was in charge of running the mimeo machine and taking care of the editorials. Special “acknowledgement” goes to the advisor. Miss Gare Vivian, also known as “The Boss. ” Last but not least was Kim McCarthy , our great Editor in- Chief Kim had many responsibilities, the largest of which was “leading the way. ” Among her other duties were “cracking the whip, ” making signs and head ringmaster. But on June 10, 1976, the presses stopped ! Silence filled the press room! Confusion left! No more Friday deadlines ... until September! Kneeling: The 1975 Girls ' Varsity Basketball team had a super exciting season this year ; compiling a fine 1 1 and 3 SCAL Record and an overall record of 12 wins to only 7 losses. They were in second place right behind Algonac and were considered one of the best teams in the Blue Water Area Coach Roger Allen directed the Vikettes for his first year as a girls ' coach. Mr. Allen felt that his task was to communicate much better with them. The Vikettes , as well as Coach Roger Allen, believe that it does take the team as a whole to win at basketball, and the Vikettes were truly that team. To show how much the SCAL coaches respected the Vikettes, they placed all five of the starters on the All- League team. Of the five, three girls received the honors of representing Marysville on the All- Blue Water- Area team. 50 - GIRLS ' VARSITY BASKETBALL See The Whites Of Their Eyes! Trainers.
