A TIME TO. . . REMEMBER SEPTEMBER: 4 First day of school — A time to renew old friendships and seek new ones. 6 Student Council elections. 8 First GAA bike hike. 12 First Student Council meeting led by Joanne, Rich, Ann, and Karen ! 14 First Football game of the season. We really took a beating — Lapeer 36, Marysville 6. 15 Seniors sponsor car wash in front of C-Jerry’s. 17 Freshmen elect steering committee members. 21 Gale, Dan and Steve attend Teen-Age court for the first time. 21 Sophomores vote on ring choice. 24 Seniors sign up for picture appointments with Askar-Shain all this week. 26 Sophomores order class rings from Terryberry Company. 27 Freshman cheerleaders are chosen. 28 Underclassmen pictures are taken. 28 Melodie and Dan H. get locked in art storage room ! ! 28 Joe Schulte is crowned this year’s Mr. Cool. OCTOBER: 1 Students start building floats for Homecoming competition. 3 First Varsity Club meeting. 5 Cheerleaders sell carnations for Homecoming. 8 Tryouts are held for Senior Play. 11 Student Council sponsors a bonfire with free refreshments. 12 Homecoming Day is here! At half-time, lovely Karen Erno is crowned queen of MHS for the 1973-74 school year. Juniors place first in float competition. And to make this evening more memorable — Marysville 14, Chippewa Valley 12. 23 Juniors take National Merit (PSAT) test. 23 Choir puts on Variety Show, “Those Were The Days.” 29 Halloween Rec. Night is sponsored by the French Club. 31 Seniors attend College Day at SCCCC. NOVEMBER: 6 Seniors are measured for caps and gowns. 7 Underclassmen receive class pictures. 7 Pep assembly honoring Senior Athletes. 8,9 A time to worry! Parent-Teacher Conferences! Blah! 21 Thanksgiving issue of AMPLIFIER on sale. 22-26 Thanksgiving Vacation. 26 School resumes. 29 Senior Play, “The Whole Truth,” directed by Mr. MacDonald, is a smashing success! 30 BOEC sponsors bake sale. 30 Swim Team sponsors Third Annual Swim-A-Thon. DECEMBER: 1 MHS Cheerleaders sponsor Second Annual Cheerleading Clinic. RAH! RAH! 3 Mat Maids form. 3 Varsity Basketball Team sponsors a Blue-White Scrimmage. Admission: One bar of soap! 4 Senior Girls take Betty Crocker Test. 7 First Basketball game of the year — Marysville winning over Algonac 60-54! A time for cheering! 12 Fall Sports Banquet held in Gardens School. 20 Early Christmas cheer— Snow Day! 21 Last day of school. Christmas Vacation starts. A time for a LONG rest. JANUARY: 7 Back to school! All students and teachers refreshed and ready to start a new year. 15 All seniors meet Congressman James O’Hara. 19 Marysville Invitational Wrestling Tournament. 22-26 Time to hit the books! First semester exams — ALL THIS WEEK! 25 Juniors spend a night in “SHANGRI-LA.” 28 Second Semester begins — a time for new classes. 31 Kathy and Mike take first places in BOEC’S second annual spelling and typing contests. 31 Vision testing for 9th and 11th graders. FEBRUARY: 4 VIKING Staff sell Viking patches. 8 Another hectic deadline for VIKING Staff. 11 Spirit Week at MHS. Blue Jean Day! 12 Uncoordinated Color Day! A time for blinde rs! 13 MHS Takes us back to the 50’s. 14 A box of candy, A chocolate heart, A card with lace, And Cupid’s dart! 14 Dress-Up Day! 15 Blue and White Day! Rich Pietroski is selected Mr. Irresistible. 19 Tryouts for musical “Kiss Me Kate.” 22 French Club sponsors a “Sock Hop.” 22 Varsity Basketball — Marysville clobbers St. Clair 57-50. 23 Wrestling District. MARCH: 1 Last Varsity Basketball game of the year. Marysville is victorious over P.H. Central 78-51. 2 Wrestling Regionals. 4 District Basketball games. 8 Kevin Zepp goes to Wrestling State Finals. 8 Last deadline for VIKING Staff. 11 Basketball Regionals. 29 End of third marking period. APRIL: 8 Spring recess. Another time to relax! 16 Classes resume. 27 Marysville relays. MAY: 10 Class of ’75 presents, “More Than Meets The Eye.” 13-17 Viking Week at MHS. 21 Spanish Fiesta! 23 School Awards Assembly. 27 No classes. 28 550 Lucky students receive the 1974 VIKING! 31 Graduation Practice. Only ten more days until graduation ! JUNE: 2 Baccalaureate. 6 Senior Honors Convocation. 7 Senior Prom and all-night party. 9 Commencement. That big day is here when all Seniors have a time to remember. 11-13 Final Examinations for underclassmen. 14 To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. 4
