NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY s 'ff zz QQ Vs Lf Numerous fundraisers, such as Hallo- ween ghosts and Christmas poinsettias raised extra money for trips, and volunteer work such as helping in the Christmas Clearinghouse and Senior Citizens Craft show, continued the respected NHS reputation. This year, NHS attended the Nut- cracker, a Ballet Met production of a young girl whose Christmas nutcracker creates her dreams of fantastical events. ln the spring NHS, including new members, traveled to the Palace theatre, after eating breakfast at Bob Evans, and viewed the opera Porgy and Bess, a story of a young woman and her crippled lover who struggles to live with her happily ever after. The Mentor Program The Career Mentorship Program is an innovative pro- gramming option for students in the Marysville School District's Able Learners Program. Students are provided with an opportunity to explore the world of work with suc- cessful professionals, business people and community leaders. The mentors act as career advisors, while pro- viding students with on the job experience. For a 9-week period, seniors worked with community professionals in the career and interests fields the student wished to pur- sue. Afterwards, a written composition and journal kept continually throughout the experience are submitted for a final grade.
