Kayettes were awarded the 3000 point award for the third time at the Kay-Kayette conference at Minneapolis, October 26-27. Only seven Kayette organizations in Kansas rank this high. Points for this award were earned during the 1954-1955 school term. During the past school term, the Kayettes were striving for their fourth 1000 point award. In order to earn points the organization, besides undertaking various committee projects, has worked as a group to present the Thanksgiving and Easter programs to the student body, to entertain eighth graders at the Little Sister Party. to sing Christmas carols for shut-ins, and to collect offerings for Meals for Millions. The Kayettes sacked over 2000 sacks of Christmas candy and over 4000 sacks of Easter candy under the guidance of the Chamber of Commerce, as another group project. The girls also made a pre-school survey of Marysville for the school board. The Kayette candy stand is another important project which the entire organiui- tion supports: from the sale of candy, ice-cream, pencils, book covers and Kleenex the Kayettes derive a large share of their income. The tenth anniversary of the Marysville Kayettes was celebrated at a party at the high school on February 17. Miss Wanda Mae Vinson, state director of Kayettes, was present to speak on the program.
