The paper served as a record of the year's activities and events, and gave the cl-ass experience in reporting, editing, and creative writing. Ellen McLaughlin served as editor-in-chief, the only permanent staff position, for the entire year. The other editorships were rotated among the remaining class members. The paper was mimeographed by the advanced stenography class under the supervision of Miss Creager. In addition, the journalism class published the yearbook with each class member responsible for a certain section. Volunteers from the senior class assisted in its preparation. Mr. Martinez helped with the photography and finishing and the Marshall County News supplied the printing. Wi

He made their joys and sorrows his own. In his attempts to aid these youngsters he often ran afoul of certain conservative groups in his church. He scandalized two older members by his rev- olutionary tactics and openly opposed an important member of Congress over the case of a juvenile delinquent. All of this work proved too strenuous for him and he suffered a severe heart attack. After his partial recovery he was offered the posi- tion of Chaplirl of the United States Senate. He had a difficult time explaining to his wife Catherine, that he must continue his work. Finally he made her understand what he must dog and she agreed with him when he said, It isn't 'how long we live, but how wellg whether or not we keep our bargain with Him.
