T - ex X ..- I In early September of 1946 the members of the class of '50 start- ed their long Journey that ended May 23 19:10 Mother Nature re- volted at the thought of the 138 freshmen the largest class in years. Unleashing her boundless energy in the form of lightning, she tore a series of holes in the gym roof and destroyed the chimney. The class activities that school year were a picnic and a line party. Mother Nature revolted again in September of 1947 with such ex- treme heat that school was dis- missed six afternoons. School was not held several times during the winter because of a gas shortage. A skating party was the class ac- tivity for the 129 sophomores. On May 6 the Junior- Senior Prom was held featuring the music of Del Weidner and his orchestra. This ended many weeks of hard labor for a great number of juniors who worked on the Southern Garden theme. At last we're seniors, rejoiced 112 students as they started on the last lap of their journey. .Io- Anne McMahon was elected foot- ball queen, Bob Miller and Leonard Pacha were named honorary foot- ball co-captains, and Leonard Pa- cha was elected student body presi- dent during the fall months. Spring came and with it the prom with music furnished by Del Clayton and his orchestra. Baccalaureate came and then on May 23 it happened! Graduation exercises were held with Chancellor Dean W. Malott of the University of Kansas as the speaker.
