Our ,, . . . Y lnff ,fi .Eg Eimbmffemcg on Ilae Marzdn New On September 9, IQ53, more than three hundred girls entered the portals of Marymount to start a new year of study. The first day consisted of Mass in chapel for the student body and an assemluly in the gym. During this first assem- bly Sister Berchmans welcomed back the upperclassmen and wished each new freshman the liest ofluck upon enter- ing the Marymount Family. Besides discussing the curriculum ofstudy, Sister Berch- mans told us of all the extra-curricular activities in which we could participate. The rules, which every well run organization must have, were imparted to us and very carefully explained. Sister Berchmans hoped that each girl would cooperate in follow- ing these rules to the utmost other aliility. In the students' faces, was reflected the earnest desire to uphold these standards. The backbone of the smooth functioning organization that is Marymount High School was our beloved faculty. Each member proved herself to be both a friend and counselor to everyone ofus. By their untiring efforts and noble patience, they helped to make us what we are. Most of all, they helped to form within us that indestructable dwelling where virtue, above all, must reign. In preparation for life's journey, we were told that the Holy Ghost abides in us and that we must live accordingly. Sister Mary Seraphia Sister Mary Ludvina Librarian Rffigivn II 1,-v-, 'M wx ,was ,mu Through Zhezif glam Yes, it can be stated that the faculty's task of strengthening us spiritually, men- tally, physically, and socially had been a great one but through capable teaching and guidance it was achieved. For all their guidance, love, and under- standing, our capable and inspiring teach- ers desire no other recompense but to be remembered at the altar of God. It was their shining example that re- flected the Way, the Truth, and the Life we are about to need upon I.ife's con- tinued journey. Trees began to bud, flowers began to bloom and mother nature appeared in all her glory. During this a- wakening we fully enjoyed the spaciousness and beauty of the Marymount Campus. As spring fever drifted lazily throughout the halls, clas- ses seemed to lose their interest and every eye gazed long- ingly at the unfolding miracle of the outdoors. When the days became warmer, school discipline was relaxed and we were permitted to dispense with the wearing of the uni- form jacket. With this unconventional performance, spring was ofiicially introduced to Marymount. 63 The signers of the Declaration of In- dependence in the persons of A. Suchy, G. Ozimec, E. Kraynak, M. A.
