THE WASH — This year ' s wom- en ' s fastpitch Softball club team Is expected to be among the top five In the state, including AIAW varsity competition. The team plays a 30- game schedule, wWh its major rivals James Madison, Geoge Mason, and Virginia. Expected to play major roles on the team this spring are center fielder Kathy McCauaughey, pitcher Peggy Sanford, catcher Cin- dy Crites, first baseman Janelle Bun- trock and secon baseman Suzette Cabildo. The club has had a full season playing many varsity teams, and will wind up the season at a UVa State Tournament. The team played especially well against GWU, tying their varsity team 3-3. Currently, the team Is pe- titioning to become varsity. In order to keep up with other Viginia schools, both In talent and financial ability.

The purpose of the Outing Club is to en- courage and interest and fellowship in the out-of-doors and to teach skills of outdoor living. Crew Club offers those who are interested, an opportunity to build up endur- ance and team work. Team work is an important part of this sport. Without team work it would be eight people in a shell going nowhere fast.
