The Student Lobbying Committee is the branch of the Student Association primarily concerned with lobbying on the behalf of the student body. Although a new organization for MWC, Lobby has been active on a variety of levels. On the state level the Committee lobbies the General Assembly in Richmond. In the area of local con- cerns. Lobby has worked with the Fredericksburg City Council to improve city-school relations. On Campus, lobby has pursued various proposals and has followed up the Senate on numerous projects. Among the highlights of the year were a De- cember workshop on the General Assembly and lobbying techniques, a series of trips to Richmond to lobby, a mass mailing c ampaign to the Gener- al Assembly, and a revised party policy proposal for the campus. Membership this year has been open to any interested and concerned student. The group was highly successful in building a large scale lobbying ' effort for the first time in Mary Washington ' s history. Lobby is looking forward to an even better year next year. Young Politicians The purpose of the College Republicans is to bring students into the Republican Party and provide them the opportunity to find political expression and recognition.
