The Academic Affairs Commit- fee is vitaily important to student representation in all academic areas of the Student Association Academic Affairs Chairman. Its members include student depart- mental representatives, student members of each student-faculty committee, and all interested students. The committee meets at leas monthly to coordinate and communicate matters of academic interest involving stu- dents and to generate student input into department. Executive Cabinet, and administrative aca- demic issues. The committee serves as an effective link be- tween the Academic Affairs Chariman and the student body through their representatives. The committee works on such areas OS student participatin in advis- ing, student-faculty socials, and investigating special areas of academic concern. Each fall, the Inter-Club Associ- ation Club Carnival introduces students with the variety of ac- tivities by each club on campus. Throughout the year the ICA as- sists in the formation of new clubs, according to student interest. CLASS COUNCIL OFFICERS: Laura Hall Trenda Powell, Beth Doyle, Class Council organizes all of the major social functions on campus. These events include Halloween ' s, Beach Weekend, Ring Week, Graduation Week, moview, singers in the pub and Keg parties. The Christmas Bazaar is also sponsored by Class Council and is well publi- cized throughout the area. Class Council works together to try to bring more unity among each class. The people on Class Council work not only with each of their re- spective classes but also with other organizations on campus. The Mortar Board is the Senior Honor Society. Its purpose is to pro- vide equal opportunity to all peo- ples, to emphasize the advance- ment of the status of women, to support the ideals of the status of women, to support the ideals of the College, to advance a spirit of scholarship, to recognize and en- courage leadership, and to provide service. The requirements are a 3.0 overall average, a student has to be a senior, and must be elected to the Board. The Association of [Residence Halls is an organization made up of the hall presidents and small house presi- dents. Their duties consist of advis- ing the Student Association Cabinet and working on the student con- cerns and issues pertaining to their residence life. The Association pro- vides a form of communication be- tween residence haiss and organi- zations on campus. ASSOCIATION OF RESIDENCE HALLS: Kathleen Hamilton, Paige Farm- er, Jackie Tanouse, Karen MacDowell, John Hoffmann, Hans Homer, Martha Busbice, Penny Buell, Ann Galloway. The Inter-Honary Association of Mary Washington College is an or- ganization composed of the presi- dents of all recognized honor soci- eties on campus, the Student Asso- ciation Academic Affairs Chairman, and the Associate Dean for Aca- demic Services. The Academic Af- fairs Chairman presides over the as- sociation, and members represent their respective honor societies at the association meetings held regu- larly throughout the school year.
