DEAN OF :MARY YASHIXGT0X COLLEGE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA The responsibility for the smooth functioning of the school ' s academic life rests in a large part with Dr. Edward Alvey, Jr., Dean of Mary Washington College. Although much of his daily routine is devoted to administrative duties, Dean Alvey still finds time to aid students in solving scholastic problems and to contribute to the activities of the Education Department. MISS : rARGARET HARGROVE Dean of Students of Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia As Dean of Students at Mary Washington Miss Margaret Hargrove contributes to her position individual qualities of leadership and friendship which render her invaluable in working with students, both collectively and as individuals. Each student finds in ]Miss Hargrove both a friend and a competent conselor who assists her in solving her personal problems. The students are indebted to Nliss Hargrove for her efficient work with Student Council as coordinator of student opinion and ad- ministration policy. The respect due her as an effective coordinator is evidenced by the harmonious evolution of school regulations in accordance with changing student opinion and the resulting cooperative spirit in relations between students and administrators. Such cooperation is maintained largely as a result of ] Iiss Hargrove ' s outstanding qualities of leadership and her unusual sensitivity to the feelings and opinions of those with whom she works.
