Senator Edward Kennedy spoke in Toledo on behalf of the state and urea Demo- cratic candidates. 83 Maureen Tighe told the Young Democrats the reasons for electing State Senator Reums for governor. Young Democrats Being an off year for presi- dential elections, the members of the Young Democrats Club were kept busy by working at the down- town Democratic Headquarters sup- porting the state and local candi- dates. Many of the members took part in c: car caravan and rally put on by area Young Democrats when Senator Edward Kennedy was in Toledo. The club consisted of twenty- five members with Dr. Kenneth Sowers as their moderator. The pur- pose of the organization was to give its members a better under- standing of the American political system by active participation in it.

World Affairs members Nadine Flower, Antoinette Cichy, Mary Frances Woiciechow- ski, Barbara Soo, Judy Meyer, Ann Fuller, and Ruth Heban, discussed the latest world happenings. World Affairs Awareness was the keynote of the World Affairs Club on the Mary Manse Campus. Formerly known us Current Events, the club was com- posed of eleven members with Mr. Donald Meracle as its advisor. The members were enrolled in the To- ledo Council on World Affairs and were invited to their lecture- luncheon series throughout the year. The club, on active organization, stimulated interest and understand- ing in local, national and interna- tional affairs on campus. Mary Frances Woiciechowski and Ruth He- ban checked the time for the next Presi- dential news conference. 82
