Mary Manse Student Association Dedication, determination and leadership, characterize the mem- bers of the 1966-1967 Student Council. Under the guidance of Sister Marie de Lourdes the officers coordinated the activities of the Mary Manse Students Association, which includes all full time students. In September the Students Facul- ty Reception provided a time to get acquainted. The Christmas proiect to help the Appalachian people provided a time to serve. New ad- ditions to the campus included Mary Manse matches, ashtrays, and stu- dent government stationary. Room 206 was established as the center of student activities. After the open- ing of the new library, the center was moved to the second floor of Kw... - . 7.; 1 the old library. The Mary Manse Student Council of 1966-1967 was composed of all class officers, the presidents of all council recognized organizations and the tour Student Council officers. The Student Council officers were lseated from third left to rightl Patricia Hickey, secretal'y; Elaine Rankin, vice- president; Margaret Graber, president; and Kathleen Shea, treasurer. Gathered around the model of the proposed hew buildings for the campus were members of the Student Council Executive Board. 93 The Legion of Mary officers, tfrom Iefti Geraldine Wieg- ing, Charlotte Klima, Virginia Warnecke, and Gail Howard, prepared for an evening meeting. An apostolic organization, the Legion of Mary was formulated on Campus to aid in the promotion of Christian unity and sanctifica- tion. Though a relatively small group, its mem- bers have been quite active at school and in the community. Their varied projects included teaching catechism, distributing religious arti- cles, and visiting the elderly in area rest homes. They also gave their time and energies to sun- dry college activities. iiTo Christ through Mary, was the motto of Our Lady's Sodality, which strove to make each member an exemplary Catholic. Through weekly meetings, which concerned current topics of the Church and problems faced by the modern woman, a greater concept of life's challenges was had. With a song in their hearts, the members of the Legion of Mary and the Sodality united to give their favorite Senior Citizens from the area rest homes a joyous Christmas season. Each was presented with a remembrance of the groups' visit. They will long remember the girls who sang many Christmas carols-songs which made everyone young at heart.

Some members of Student Council made the trip to Appalachia. Here Peg Graber compared the routes to take with Mr. Yezbick, the generous faculty member who volunteered to drive the truck. Packing the truck with goods for Appalachia were Regina Flahie and several stronger helpers. Mr. Yezbick started the truck, donated by the Avis firm for the trip. One mile from the exit to Berea, the truck needed a little sustenance . . . gas. Despite the slight delay, the trip was a success and all had a safe return. 95
