Science Department Students desiring careers in such diverse fields as medicine and teaching can be found in the Mary Mense Science Departmnt. High school teaching fields are offered in General Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. In addition, Mary Manse is affiliated with nursing schools at St. Vincent, Mercy, and Mau- mee Valley Hospitals, and is associated with St. Vincent, Mercy and Toledo Hospitals in Toledo and St. Rita, Lima in their Medical Technilogy programs. 4 -' A. Sister Louise enjoys discussing children with stu- dents. Psychology Department Studying psychology opens many doors - to teachers, to mothers, and to professional people. Because psychology is so important to daily living and to a liberal arts education, all sophomores are required to take General Psychology. For those interested in teaching, either high school or elementary school, the Psychology Department offers many specialized courses. Under the direc- tion of Sister Mary Louise, courses in child psycho- logy, adolescent psychology, educational psychology, and behavior problems of children are offered. These courses serve to aid both the teacher and the counselor. P I I Sister Borromeo's class illustrates that they are not fooled by propaganda. 57

Social Studies Department At Mary Manse the fields of economics, history, political science and sociology are grouped under the Social Studies Department. These fields are correla- ted under the direction of Mr. Kyle, head of the department. In the field of economics, courses in the principles of economics are offered. Economic geography makes a study of the effect of natural environment on economics. The history courses generally aim at evaluating American social, political, and cultural heritage, While political science deals with the basic princi- ples of political life. Sociology courses are aimed primarily at those in- terested in social Work. They include courses in case Work and social practice.
