Mathematics Departmen t Under Sister Francis Clare, looking to the future is the byword of the Mathematics Department. By offering courses in computation, statistics, com- puter techniques, and research, the student is well prepared to take her place in a modern World. Math- matic students begin their major with analytic geo- metry and finish with a study of the computer. For the student aiming at a degree in elementary education, mathematics is required. Here the theory of arithmetic is developed, and an introduction to geometry, as it is presented in the elementary grades, is given. This course is designed to prepare future teachers in the new techniques of teaching arith- metic. These things are indicative of a forward- looking Mathematics Department. Sister Frances Clare's simple equations are a joy to students
