Does it simply mean being available to register students for classes? Not at all. This is only a small segment of the formidable task which faces the Mary Manse College Registrar, Sister Mary Ethelreda. In addition, Sister Ethelreda is responsible for the grades and courses of every student, past and present, who has attended the college. Upon request, transcripts are made available to anyone wishing them. Sister is ready at any time to help students evaluate credits, or answer questions. , Indeed, this is a full-time job when one considers that Mary Manse has an enrollment of over seven hundred full-time students and equally as many part-time students. It is affiliated with nursing schools, and extension courses in Lima, Tiffin and Toledo. Also an important part of the College is the Summer Sessions program, which attracts over six hundred students. Thus the position of registrar does attain paramount status. Loyalty, devotion, vitality aptly describes the manner in which Sister Mary Ethelreda carries out her responsibilities. She has accepted her position and has made available to all, her time, her interest, and her delightful disposition. Besides her many duties as Registrar, Sister Ethelreda maintains other important positions on the Mary Manse Campus, one of which is the head of the Classical Languages Department. In addition, Sister Ethelreda chairs the Arts and Forum Committee and the Committee for Admissions, Scholarships, and Policies. The responsibilities of these chairmanships are many and consume much time. The success of the 1965 Arts and Forum Series attests to the diligent service of Sister Ethelreda. The 1965 Brescifm Staff is proud to dedicate its yearbook to this' perpetual bundle of energy. VVe look forward to many more years of her indispensable service. 8 Sr. Ethelreda, O.S.U. It's difficult to describe the ambivalent feelings of the graduate. As gradua- tion quickly approaches the seniors can't help but be a little reminiscent. When we entered Mary Manse we were very green fresh- men, fearful of initiation and jubilant on Mardi Gras day. As sophomores our spirit grew and we acquired a little maturity as we met new responsibilities and challenges. junior year brought fame to our class - a class with the reputation of being good losers. Our junior year we won the basketball tournament. As seniors weive been involved in Student Teach- ing, the Senior Dance and much more. During our four year stay at Mary Manse many new things have appeared on our campus: our beloved MMC peacock, the Campus Crier, a new administration, a new dormitory, a larger enrollment and so much more. Our class is a class with spirit, loyalty and a genuine together-ness',. We say good-bye physically but never will we be completely separated from our beloved Mary Manse Col- lege for the spiritual bond of unity and love will keep us to- gether. This year the Faculty Committee on Academic Honors nominated thirteen members of the Senior Class. The qualifications for the election were the follow- ing: satisfactory academic standingg cooperation with school projectsg distinction brought to the College and other evidence of leadership. The nominees that were chosen are pictured above. They were chosen because of their outstanding leadership in every phase of school activity. Terry conducts MMC tour. Virginia Auth, A.B. The department, under the direction of Sister jane Catherine, aims at both those students going into art as a career and those students needing a minimum amount of art instruction for a teaching certificate. For the beginner, art appreciation serves as an introductory course. By providing a background for the history of painting, sculpture, and architec- ture a basis for further art studies is laid. In addition to art appreciation, other courses are offered in which the student has an opportunity to put theory into practice. For those interested in teaching art, a course on art in the high school is offered. And we couldn't even draw a straight line at first Education Department And as Prince Charming kissed Snow XVhite she awoke from her deadly sleep Mary Manse, through its excellent education program, trains teachers for both elementary and secondary schools. By offering courses in computation, statistics, com- puter techniques, and research, the student is well prepared to take her place in a modern World. Math- matic students begin their major with analytic geo- metry and finish with a study of the computer. For the student aiming at a degree in elementary education, mathematics is required. Here the theory of arithmetic is developed, and an introduction to geometry, as it is presented in the elementary grades, is given. This course is designed to prepare future teachers in the new techniques of teaching arith- metic. These things are indicative of a forward- looking Mathematics Department. The annual project, a closed retreat, held at The Monastery of the Precious Blood convinced the sodalists that it is wonderful to be committed to Christ through Mary. Sodality members gather in Lourdes Hall for their weekly meeting to discuss new ideas for the imitation of Mary. 63 SSC Student Spiritual Council works to further spiritual life of the students and to coordinate the spiritual activities on campus. With this expansion has come an ever increasing desire to make known her contributions to the surrounding community. Improving public relations on an individual basis was accomplished through Speaker's Bureau, which sends out Mary Manse talent to clubs and organizations. Drama Mary Manse Drama Club, newly reorganized in October, is open to students interested in dramatics and communication arts. Newspaper In its second year of publication, the Campus Crier continues to fulfill the need for communication on the Mary Manse campus. Initiated in 1964 as an answer to this need, this student publication consists of four pages devoted to campus news, features, columns, and other stories of interest to the student body. Originally published quarterly during the 1964- 65 term, the Campus C rier is now published monthly to better serve its readers. Throughout this past year, the staff, headed by editor, Mary Lee Rietzke, and faculty advisor, Mr. Francis Yezbick of the English Department, has worked diligently to publish a newspaper meeting college standards. Preludes, a literary supplement to the newspaper, is published annually in the spring of the year. This magazine includes the literary efforts of students who wish to submit their work for publication. Nuff' Yearbook editors, Cathy and Mary, begin the big job.
