Fiery good frm' bringelh forth good fruil. Mull. 7:17 adies' uxiliar The Mothers of the Mary Louis Academy Auxiliary may point with pardonahle pride to almost fifteen years of ever increasing activity. From a small group of women, whose first or- ganized meeting was held in the convent on January 4th, 1937, under the ahle leadership of Mrs. Harry Hempstead, the organization has grown and flourished and a staggering amount of work has heen accomplished. Each president in her turn has done an excellent joh and while the scope of activities and interests have of necessity widened with the increased memher- ship and the introduction of new ideas, the hasic aims have remained the same-into raise funds through dues and social activities and to co- operate with the Faculty in the welfare of the Academy. Mrs. Willard Carman has just completed two very successful years as president of the aux- iliary and I will here hriefly outline the course ,X ...af of procedure at the present time. The regular Meeting is held on the third Monday of each month. At these meetings refreshments are served and after the husiness of the day is disposed of a short hut cnjoyahle program is enjoyed hy the mothers. At the opening of each new term, a joint meeting is held with the Fathers' Cluh for the purpose of welcoming parents of stu- dents of the Freshman Class. Two large fund- raising affairs are held each yearf-the Dessert Bridge and Fashion Show held in the Fall and the Spring Luncheon and Bridge. The Auxiliary sponsors monthly teas and card parties in the Convent. The two gala occasions when the Fac- ulty are present, are the Christmas party and the Silver Tea. The Auxiliary, to date, has awarded four partial Scholarships to Saint Joseph's Col- lege for Women in Brooklyn. It is unfortunate that all of the hundreds of women who have given their time and energy, cannot be listed here. The list of presidents is growing ever larger too but these we do record as follows: Mrs. Harry Hempstead, Mrs. Frank Brophy, Mrs. John McCaffrey, Mrs. Stephen McGrath, Mrs. Leo Fitzharris, Mrs. Kurt Aliesky, Mrs. Leonard McCann, Mrs. Willialii Kelly, Mrs. Martin Owens, Mrs. Timothy O'Leary, Mrs. James Bar- rett, Mrs. Wfillard Carman.
