ERFECTION is not easily acquired, Rare orchids, among the most beautiful and delicate flowers in God's garden, require years of cultivation and care if they are to blossom into full beauty. Even after they are in bloom they must be protected from any- thing which might bring about their destruction. This is true, too, of the soul, lt must be protected from any force which would cause its death. We, the Seniors, use the orchid as our symbol. Having been cared for and strengthened morally and spiritually during the past four years-just as the orchid is painstakingly nurtured and culti- vated-we are about to enter upon a new and entirely different phase of our lives. We suddenly realize that the massive gates of high school education, which have sheltered us, are about to swing open-we must step from behind them into a troubled and chaotic world. Yet, under the banner of St. Joseph, Protector of the Holy Church, we will march forth to meet the world bravely. Under his protection we will meet the new problems, the new joys, the new sorrows which are awaiting us, and we will meet them courageously. Our Senior Year is drawing to a close.
