There is a flower, a little flower With silver crest and golden eye, That welcomes every changing hour And weathers every skyf, T IS appropriate that in St. Joseph's garden, the Daisy should represent the extracurricular activi- ties of The Mary Louis Academy. The silver-white petals, stemming from its golden center, symbolizing each activity, be it a vocation or retreat project of the Sodality, a play from capable hands of our Genesians, Christmas windows designed by the Magnets, Midnight Mass sung by the Glee Club, Spanish, Latin or French Club meetings that introduce us to the languages and customs of other people, or the exciting basketball games staged by the Athletic Association which bring out our co- operative spirit. As the golden center itself, like a large, clear, constant eye fixed on God, gives strength and direction to the petals radiating from it, so should our purity of intention in pursuing our work bring the combined strength of eight hundred and thirty girls to each in- dividual student. In that strength she is able to welcome every changing hour of study, recitation, or recreation as a source of fresh inspiration, Then, even when she fails in her work or loses a game on the court, she realizes that if she has done her best, she has weathered every sky. To be the true Marielite, we know that spiritually, mentally and physically, we must be well trained and well prepared for life, With the help of our Faculty Moderators and Saint Joseph, our Patron, the Model of Artisans, let us continue to work hard, pray hard, and play hard so that our daisy patch in the garden may be brimful of golden-eyed blossoms. -DOLORES E.
