HEN the students of a school act in harmony with respect for themselves and with loyalty to each other, the whole effect is comparable to the beauty exhibited by a bouquet of flowers ex- quisitely arranged. The classes in our school may be likened to the flowers of such a bouquet. In it we can see the lily of the valley, applicable to the Freshman and significative of the purity of girl- hood and its rare grace. Next, we can find the tulip, a symbol of gaiety, denoting the light-hearted, merry Sophomore who, laughing at life's difficulties, lifts her bright head into the invigorating at- mosphere of intellectual pursuits, just as the tulip flaunts her bright beauty on the garden path. And then there are the serenely serious Juniors, the thoughtful pansies, that grow happily in a garden enclosed . Therefore, as we liken our Student Body to a bouquet of flowers gathered under the careful supervision of the Faculty and St. Joseph, we pray that it may be made fragrant by the delicate perfume of his virtues who is so eloquently called Joseph, most prudent, Joseph, most obedient, Joseph, most faithful. SEPTEMBER 1947 tandingz A. Segrave, M. J. leary, E. Smith, C. amond, P. Howard, C. Atheri, E, Liegey. eatcd: P. Heiser, J. McAllister, . Goldsmith, B. Hawke, I. Ren- o, H, Cornerford, L. McAIonen, M. Raspanti. Cuoitt, J. LMOST any Monday afternoon, if you should glance into Room 2l6, you would see a group of twenty or more efficient Class Treasurers, under the able guidance of Sister M. Apollonia, carefully checking and totaling long lists of figures. These girls, among them your Class Treasurer, have the im- portant duties of making out and distributing Student Activity bills and re- ceipts, managing the sale of School Pins and many other minor assignments which keep them busy throughout the week. Their work, which is very much akin to that of a financial secretary, is not wasted for the training received is often useful in filling positions in later life. Although this group works quietly and capably, with little fuss or fanfare, you should always be grateful to them and to their Moderator, who works so zealously to keep the financial affairs of the school running smoothly. Remember-there is always one girl who shoul- ders the responsibility for your monetary matters, she is your Class Treasurer. -PATRICIA O'BRlEN '47 N XSXYrS4XSi sf? 'fQiS-F:-Q?fSNSsw'- ' 1 - .
