The Admiral The theme that you have chosen for your CHRONICLE has, in your senior year particularly, assumed a deeper significance than perhaps you may have first realized. In your early years at Mary Institute it was only right that you should have played happily and irresponsibly like children on the banks of a small stream that flows at the end of a beautiful gardeng but later, as the stream widened, you had the courage to push off from the shoreg and now you have reached the point where the river is so wide that one cannot see the banks of either side. Like all trips, it has been a mixture of happiness and anxiety, smooth progress and buffeting head winds, Warm sunny days and chilly darkness. You have not been content to remain idle pas- sengers, but you have shown a Willingness to assume great re- sponsibilities, and you have charted a course for others who will come after you to follow. The plan for student government that you have inaugurated this year has already proved to be one of the most important and valuable contributions ever made by any class in the long history of this school, and it has been successful because it has had the loyal support of every one of you, and each by her example has added to the prestige of the class of 1952. You have faced happiness and disaster with faith, courage, and wisdom beyond your years, and your reward will be that quiet happiness that comes to those Who belong to a goodly fellowship that has been tried and not found wanting. f' ima
