We hope the graduates will be i proud of this fact, for education has i always been one of the bulwarks of our country and one of its most cherished values. f Mary Holmes College is proud to have her students join the throng of Bicentennial celebrants. This has been a good year for us - a year of growth, of new programs, of inspiration, of the joy of working and learning together. To the students, faculty, and community who have made this year a successful and notable one, we express our deep appreci- ation and gratitude. As Mary Holmes College moves steadily forward toward its first centennial, may she continue , through her students, to uphold the rich traditions and the high values which have made our country great. A graduate of Knoxville College and Mississippi State University, Gail came to Mary Holmes College in 1968. Since then, she has served diligently in the following capacities: Secretary to the Dean of Students, Counselor and Director of Student Activities. In her years of service , she has never neglected the interest of the students. It seems as though the word can't is not a part of her vocabulary. There has never been a time when Gail has told students that she would not help them with their problems. She is always on the go helping students at Mary Holmes College. For this, we are grateful. To show our appreciation, the yearbook staff dedicates to you, Gail, the 1976 Eagle 'with sincere gratitude. Seveggzz Administration y 1 . DR. WAYNE W. There were times when things seemed to go wrong and discouraging words rang out from all sides, but with an optimistic view and bit of Shaky confidence we moved forward . I would like to thank Miss Girtha Clark Cmiss-year- bookb and the Annual Staff, who when things got boring most of them stayed around to make things more pleas- ant. Thanks are definitely extended to the advisors, Miss Gail Nolls and Mr. James T . Stewart. This is your yearbookg it may not contain your picture as often as you would like , but this is your memory. We hope that we have included the best moment of the year 1976. From Smitty to you, the Eagle of 76. Yours in blackness , Hudson S. We achieved this unity to a fairly decent degree. Now my hopes are for continued progress for each of us as we pursue additional education or employment in business or industry. To exist and not pursue is to be dead: to exist and pursue is to be alive. Therefore, pursue education, economic security, emotional maturity and self -understanding . As SGA President, I have grown intellectually, I have acquired a deeper sense of intellect, integrity and a more practical knowledge of the meaning of responsibility. I have also learned that although we will never be completely satisfied with life , we must not stop our gist to attain the best that life has to offer. I have also learned that you and I must continue to pursue success in every aspect of our daily lives - utilizing the ability that we have acquired at Mary Holmes. As my term as President of the SGA expires, I urge the student body to discipline and prepare itself for the tasks that lie ahead, both here at Mary Holmes and in the larger society. But the commonalities of our existence must take priority over our differences. Ernphasizing and using our com- monalities will assure us of growth and strength both of which are necessary, if you, I and Mary Holmes are to serve humanity. Best wishes for continued success. Yours sincerely , QnvX Q Melvin Ray Kendrick SGA President, 1975-'76 l QwdwW A5wMww X 127 l 1 Qfaw . 3 N A iw Q- -1 .. i-SX in fs QQAQR ,si 1. 3 .
