At Mary Baldwin College the English I lepartment has more majors than any other department. The Bible Department endeavors to give the student the Biblical knowledge that any cultured woman should possess and to help the student appreciate the eternal spiritual values that are to be found in life. Recognizing that the modern college woman often needs technical training, Mary Baldwin College not only offers a two-year secretarial course but also encourages other students to take one or more of these courses. n Lh of J cm(jiiacfe$ The Modern Language Department, which offers courses in the French, German, and Spanish languages and literatures, has three objectives. It aims to develop a reading ability sufficient for a student to continue to make use of the language in graduate study, to give to those interested in the language itself an ability to make practical use of it, and to provide a knowledge of the literature and its place in world literature for those students whose main interest lies in that field.
