CLASS HISTORY It was in 1936 that we all enrolled in high school. We were typical of most Freshmen-happy, proud, and a little awed. We were assigned to Mr. Meyer's home room in the basement of the gymnasium. We stayed there until the next semester when we were moved to the main building. We were divided into three groups, one group going to Miss Walker's home room, one group going to Mr. Staple'sg another to Miss Wray's. As Sophomores Miss Walker was our sponsor. Miss Walker married in '38, and Miss Shackleton became our sponsor. In 1939 the three home rooms organized and became one class. We elected Miss Wells to sponsor us and at the same time elected our class officers. Leon Newman was elected President, Mary Holt Whittle, Vice-President, Jane Ford, Secretary, Sallie Ann Price, Treasurer. In order to raise some money we sponsored a picture at the Rives Theatre. Now, after spending four years in preparation, we are graduating. Today, four years later, we are typical of most Seniors-still happy, still proud, and a little sad. We wait now for what lies ahead, beyond our school life. To those, of other classes that we leave behind, we wish many happy and fruitful school days. To the members of the faculty we extend our grateful thanks for their help in our high school education. To the carefree school days we bid a reluctant farewell. Armed with our youth we greet our uncertain futures with an expectant hello. -ROBERT BEELER.
