It did concen- trate, however, on not only improving the established features of the publication, but also on adding, two new attractions-the new type of cover and binding and the colorgraph. SENIORS M.C.H.S. registered thirty-nine freshmen in 1936. Veloa Montgomery, LaNora Hood, Dean Spires, and Denver Mumford were chosen as officers. Miss Lovett and Mr. Garrigus sponsored the group in their fall party and Twin Lakes picnic. Additions brought the sophomore roll to forty. Miss Gallatin and Mr. Garrigus were assisted by Dale Sinclair, Thelma Burger, Paul Veach, and Haven Hammond. An April Fools' party was followed a few weeks later by a second trip to Paris. Thirty-eight juniors were led by Junior Doran, LaNora Hood, Thelma Burger, and Mildred Gallatin, with Miss North and Mr. Kirkton as sponsors. Great events were the carnival, Cakewalk, Hallowe'en party, His Ozark Cousin, the Junior-Senior banquet, and the inevitable trip to Paris. The class entered its last year with thirty-seven members. Albert Husted enrolled before Christmas. Mrs. Galbreath directed Aunt Tillie Goes to Town, and we were entertained at the Junior-Senior banquet. The year closed with the usual Senior Week activities. The objects of this organization are to form a connecting link between the school and the home, to develop leadership among the students. and to stimulate interest in homemaking. Upper groups-Trumpet Trio: Drum Ensemble. Lower groups-Brass Sextet: Orchestra. Band In the state open band competition for Class C. the hand placed first at the l9'59 State Fair. On October Zl it participated in the homecoming parade and competition at Charleston. The group also played at the home football and basketball games under the direction of Mr. Royer. The more unusual instruments now in the band are oboe. French horn, Glockenspiel, and baritone saxophone. Marion Greenwell is the drum major.
