Members are chosen from the upper third of the junior or senior class who have done outstanding work in journalism on the yearbook or school paper. Cfhaplutin: Mr. John linipe, Atlviisur. l-li-Y Club To create. maintain and to further promote the ideals of Christian life in the community .intl the schools is the aim of the Hi-Y club, the schools oldest organization. Under the leadership of Mr. John Knipe the club's adviser, and Beall Rodgers the cluh presi dent, the club had a very successful and active year. In the fall of the year the club sponsored its annual popularity contest in which the winner was Nancy Downey. ln March the club sent sixteen boys to the Older Boys' Conference at Morgantown, at which Beall Rodgers presided as the president of the meeting. In April the club sponsored a l'C1o-to-Church campaign which urged everyone to attend Church more frequently and more regularly. Mr, Frank Liddle. state secretary of the Hi-Y clubs talked to the club on several occasions. The club heard several outside speakers talk on religious and other subjects. As a climax to the year's work they had a picnic. i70?.
