Guzzy Guard. Johns hard-fighting never- dieing spirit found a place to fit ' with Ferrys powerful line. When an opponent tried to push a play through right guard they found it plenty tough. Hodick Center. Peppy cheery and always with a grin and kind word for every- one. These qualities cause Mike to be well liked by the team and all who know him. Mike is a hard vicious tackler and very skilled in getting into the bac-kficld to block punts. Negus Guard. brim and determincd and with the ability to back up his deter- mination, Albert was a tough customer to any team that thought Ferry's line soft. Scarfpin, Tackle. For three years, a tower of strength on the right side of l erry's line. His aggressive, vicious tackling. Efjx M.-C11 H. 5, and his unfalterlng powerful defensive work made him a marked man among the opponents Kala: End Pete was called into the back field to kick Ferry out of danger He also snared those long ground gaining, touchdown scoring passes Poludmak, Back Another fast stepping back who played an important part in Ferrys many victories. Speeding t tackle a runner or skillfully blocking a man out of a play seemed to come natural for John. Dorsey Back. CAPTAIN DORSEY one of the greatest football players in Ferry 'gh .. history, made regular fullback in his freshman year. His remarkable performance in the Wheeling charity game in 1930 will always be remem- bered. His field generalship in his third year and fourth year madc him the idol of Ferry fans. Yeater Back. After being moved to scveral diffcrcnt backfield positions Ycatcr finally stuck to quarterback where he proved an asset to the team by his never-dieing spirit and his able blocking. Brown, Back. Brown, in his first year out for football, showed the fans something unusual in his speedy end runs, his clever side-stepping, and his elusive manner of evading would-be tacklers. ll f 0 S. 5 The Terr1an , Q . ,p , p .s ,, i- 4 r fififi 'l A .1 I 'A u 1 s . v ' ' 3 '- ' ,s . . , . Out of the entire schedule, only three games were lost in the '32 season. That means that the team was a real baseball team. This year, Ferry started off the season with a defeat by Tiltonville, but soon their form and pep began to show themselves, and as the Ferrian is at press, they are giving a good account of themselves. It is evident that the 1933 season is going to go on the record as a successful one. Ha1't's nine is a balanced team composed of fleet outfielders, an air-tight infield, and batteries above par. Few people know the amount of work on hand for any up-and-going newspaper staff. Besides preparing the School News column for the Wheeling Sunday News, the club has published The Purple Vow, a school paper which has won the approval of hoth faculty and students. Original poems, stories and essays find their way into the columns of this paper. It also contains accounts of the activities of the school, as well as choice hits of humor, both personal and impe rso nal.
