Two insane yearbook editors faced each other with a look of determina- tion only found when life and death are at stake. Only one could win. Only one could become the greatest glut- ton, the most sickening slob ever born! The two contestants were Scott Finchler, Photo Editor, and Jesse Seidman, Copy Editor, thus titling this competition The Picture vs. The Word. The Eat-a-thon was designed to see who could eat the most ice cream by having each editor attempt to eat a whole Kitchen Sink at Jahn's Ice Cream Parlor. This concoc- tion consists of more than a gallon and a half of ice cream, bananas, top- ping, whipped cream, and cherries. While the Eat-a-thon was in progress and the contestants were beginning to turn green, a talk-a-thon was held between Andra Klein and Carol Man- delbaum. The object was to see who could talk the longest without stop- ping. The Eat-a-thon ended in a draw when both editors conceded, realiz- ing that a continuance of the competi- tion would result in extreme physical discomfort. Each had finished about one half of the monstrosity, leaving the rest to be consumed by the spec- tators. The talk-a-thon also ended in a tie because no winner could be named. Scott looks with anticipation. Jesse takes another new spoon after losing one in his Kitchen 42 EAT-A-THON Smk
