Van Buren mltlated this year a unlque blend of comedy and songs In an eighteenth century show which heretofore featured llttle musical entertain ment The play Oliver Godsmlth s She Stoops to Conquer starred nn the more serlous romantlc roles Michael Saposnlck as Marlowe Angelo De Feo as Mlss Hardcastle Brian Henkel as Hastings and Carolyn Cohen as Mlss Neville Deena Muller and Lester Borden were delightful In the humorous roles of Mr and Mrs Hardcastle and Rrchard Kane was perfect as the mnschlevous Tony Lumpkln The thes plans were under the dlrectlon of Mr Steven Silver man who sand I enyoyed domg the show H emphasized the fact that the rapport established between actor and director can often assure the success of a play Thus year s production was lodged In a Board of Educatnon competltuon and the cast were grateful not only for the tlreless efforts made by Mr Silverman but also for the constant prodding and behind the scenes work of Martin Federman the student dlrector and Jane Golden the produc hon asslstant . . - .
