A new addition to the Department, Mr. Perkins, took over the Dance Band, and is building on its already excellent repu- tation, as well as enhancing that of the Boys' Chorus. Mr. Palmentari trained the Concert Band, Mr. ltzler the Orchestra, Mrs. Snyder the Girls' Chorus, and Dr. Orshan, the Department chairman, supervised the Senior Chorus. The highlight of the year, as every year, was the annual Spring Concert, which took place on the nights of May 22 and 23. The most unique feature of this concert was the per- formance of Haydn's Toy Symphony, in which Mr. Bleifled, Miss Glenz, Mr. Wolff, Mr. Kaye, and department chairmen played the toy instruments accompanying the Orchestra. Aside from this grand event, the students were able to attend a rehearsal at Carnegie Hall of the American Symphony Orchestra conducted by Leopold Stokowski, and later in the Spring they saw a performance of La Boheme at the Met. On February 5, the Senior Chorus sang at the Annual Brotherhood Meeting of the B'nai Brith at which Mr. Bleifeld spoke and Borough President Mario J. Cariello received a Brotherhood Medal.
