Jackson A yearbook, like a mirror, reflects what we intend to see even though the true depiction is often excluded. For those who possess this testimony of a once-in-a lifetime era, reflections of happy, more positive recollections of junior high years come easily. But we must also remember those moments of struggles, of trials and tribulations which ultimately become under- pinnings for individual success stories or lives of mediocrity, even failure. Reflections of struggles are evident in this document-in the long tedious hours of pre- paration expended by Mr. Catz, his staff of students and school personnel. To all of them we owe a huge debt of gratitude. Reflections of cooperative spirit are to be remembered for PTA, staff, parents, and general community who all contributed on significant ways. Finally, and again like the image in the mirror, this yearbook is to become your individual yardstick against which you measure the extent of your gro vth from King Junior High School throughout life. There was the day I made a friend. And the algebra period that wouldn ' t end. Sneaking to the store in fright. Studying far into the night. Disgusting food - fights on the lawn. And leaving bed at the break of dawn. Being struck down in the halls. Dirty words upon the walls. Detention was a total drag. And the food here would make you gag. But even though my stay at King, Could have been a better thing. I really didn ' t mind at all. (But you sure won ' t catch me here next fall!) It has meant alot to us and we hope it means just as much to you. There were times we felt we weren’t going to make it. But we did and we are proud of it. We are proud to know that we have done something for King Junior High. There was a great deal of fun and enjoyment, but mostly work. We really appreciate all the support everyone has given to us, because we really needed it. We want this to be a real thing, some- thing we all can benefit by. Something we can be proud of. Questions and subjects such as dating, cosmetics, sex, drugs, cleanliness, etc. are answer- ed. It is a means to by which girls share skills such as corn rowing, knitting, making jewelry, and trying different head ties and wraps of African fashion. Various speakers are ar- ranged to give lectures to the girls in their interest areas. irit ♦ THEY REALLY DO CARE! President’s Message I would like to take this t ime and space to thank the many people who have helped me this year. Special thanks and appre- ciation to the Executive Board, which is composed of interested parents, who have gone beyond their duty as just members of our PTA, who have worked hard to try and bring forth suggestions, ideas and constructive complaints to make this year as successful as I feel it was. My many thanks to the school administration staff, who have been more than helpful, and to you the parents, who have joined the PTA, attended our meetings and who have helped work on many of our other activities. I feel that as President this year, I have learned more about parents, students and their personal feelings, as to what could and we hope will be done next year to better the com- munication gap between Parents, Faculty and Students.
