IN MEMORIUM CECIL WHITE JUNE 13, 1925—NOVEMBER 23, 1946 Cecil left Martin High School in the spring, 1943, and enlisted in the Army in August of the same year. He served with Company 1, 313th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division and saw service in the European-African-Middle Eastern theatres. Cecil took part in the Normandy, Northern France, and Rhineland Campaigns. He was wounded in August, 1944, and in January, 1945. He received the Purple Heart medal and one Oak Leaf Cluster and earned three bronze service stars. He was discharged from the service in December, 1945, and returned to Martin High School as a student in the fall of 1946. He was elected manager of the football team for the 1946 season. Cecil was killed when the plane in which he was riding crashed November 23, 1946. o-—
