VIR. I. W. NIXON SUPERINTENDENT LAREDO PUBLIC SCHOOLS Plans are complete for the removing and re-modeling of the buildings. This proiect will get started, and the buildings will be ready for the opening ot school. September, 1949. The Laredo Independent School District also received title to twenty-eight acres of land and six build- ings, the former Officers' Club of LAAF. This site will be used for the residents ot MacMillan Park and other sections ot the city bordering the northern extremities ol Laredo.

MR. IOE C. MARTIN PRESIDENT OF BOARD Mr. Martin serves as President ot the Board of Trustees oi the Laredo Independent School District. He was also elected President ot the Iunior College Board on Sep- tember 30. Mr. Martin is a native of Laredo. He was educated in Laredo schools and at St. Edward's University. In addition to his life-long interest in politics, he is owner of a large ranch. He has always been interested in the education of the youth of Laredo because he recognizes the value ol education in our democratic way ol lite. MR. ERNEST LEYENDECKER BOARD OF THE LAREDO PUBLIC SCHOOLS The Laredo Independent School District received title in December, 1948, to sixteen buildings located at LAAF, part of the former hospital unit. These buildings will be moved in and con- verted to modern classrooms of the latest de- signs. They will be ol permanent nature.
