As the Board of Directors of a large corporation, the Board of Trustees appoints the Superintendent, who is the executive manager of the business: and they also elect the teaching personnel and administrative staff to assist in maintaining an efficient system of schools. At present the Superintendent is William P. Galligan, who is now com- pleting his fourteenth year in that position. Hugh S. Cluck is Business Manager and at the present time is serving as Mayor of the City of Laredo. Ernest A. Leyendecker is Auditor. Laredo is indeed fortunate in having men of the type of ability of those who compose its Board of School Trustees. They are providing schools for the children of Laredo that measure up to every standard set by the State Department of Education. That the people of Laredo believe they are doing a good job is evidenced by the fact that there has been no change in the personnel of the Board for several years, each member having been drafted to succeed himself each time his term expires.
