BOYS BASKElBALL Our basketball season for 1950 51 was full of excitement Though, as our schedule shows, we lost a good many of our games we won in still another way development of sportsmen ship The total number of points scored by our opponents was 911 to Mart1n's 671 High point honors go to Vic and Arlan who netted 229 and 211 respectively Since the trophy shelf of Martin High is becoming overly crowded, we set out for another goal in tournament play Though we brought home the third place trophy from the County Tournament, our goal, set out to attaln earlier, wasn't real ized until after the District Tourney when we emerged with fourth place honors and winner of the tourney ball Since we needed a new basketball this award was welcomed by all The following summarized the games played in the tourn aments we pa1tic1pated The Conference Tournament was held at Sawyer We were defeated in our first game by Sawyer, which eliminated us from the remaining tournament defeated in our first game by MoClusky This, however, did not discourage us fo we went sailing over foodrith by three points ln the everlng game For thls we received a ve1y nice third place txophy In the Dlstrict Tournament at Sawyer, we were very fort unate to draw a bye Our first game was played with Butte ifavored team of the tourneyh and we were defeated ur next game was battled out with Karlsruhe and we were again defeated Je were very happy to recelve the tourney basket ball for fourth place honors F1 A O O Next came the County Tournament at Goodrich. Champions Junio bo homores Juniors 5rd place CLASS TOURNAMENT Drawings were made for the Class Basketball Tournament which was held March 12, 15, 14, and 15 in our school gym We found the following students starring for the freshmen team Shirley Michelson, Geraldine Eckart, Gerald Eckart, hibited their talent with Janice Rust, Lillian Helm, Shirley Nelson, Victor Michelson, and Arlan Ammon The nine juniors all contributed their individual basketball technique. Among them we found Eileen Schauer, Mary Ann Eckart, Elaine Eckart, Ardes Filler, Verna Huber, Dorothy Rath, Royce Bender, Martin Iszler, and Arley Hinsz The seniors, again small in number but large in size, found among their supply of resources Lois Fiesel, Patty Rust, Alice Schmidt, Betty Wangen, Jack Kost, and Phyllis Hill A set of rules was drawn up limiting the number f players to five The whole court was used by all the play ers The other rules used were similar to those of girls' basketball An arrangement was made whereby the members f the winning team were guests at a school party given by the three other classes f 1 Marlo Putz, Dennis Kostfand Ralph Weber.
