About one-half of all students in the school were in band or orchestra classes or were in special vocal music classes. The advanced band gave a concert at a music meeting in Indian- apolis in November, 1961, the Or- chestra and the Harmonettes won superior ratings at the district music festivalat Berne, Indiana, the Chora- leers gave Martha by Flotow. and the Grade8 Boys and Girls Chor- uses gave The Mikado by Gilbert and Sullivan. R .. SOME MEM FOR Martin Boots had in September, 196 1 978 students, the highest enrollment in the school's history. To help care for this enrollment Grade 7 students had Early and Late Sessions for the third year, we had three lunch periods, we used the YMCA for Grade 7 and 8 Social Studies, and we had some early classes at 7:30 for Grade 8 and 9 students. ww-gl-'HH r ' A popular place for Early and Late Session students and for studying at noon--the tables on the south landing, supposedly a quiet area.
