Then the child moved ten times ’round the seasons skating over ten clear frozen streams. Words like, “When you’re older” must appease him and promises of someday make up his dreams. Sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now. Cart wheels turn to car wheels through the town. You tell him “Take your time, it won’t be long now — ’till you drag your feet just to slow the circles down.” And the seasons, they go ’round and ’round And the painted ponies go up and down We’re captive on a carousel of time We can’t return we can only look behind from where we came And go ’round and ’round and ’round in THE CIRCLE GAME. 2 3 9844 50002987 7 To John W. Here we would be kings for a day ... only a day. This was freshman orientation, the day we were to make the transition from being children to young adults. The days that followed would promise to be the best of our lives, days we would never forget. Our four year stay at MVRHS brought many outstanding achievements both in academics as well as athletics. Some of these achievements included 2 first place Scholastic Press Awards for our literary magazine “Sea Breezes’’ and our memorable victory over Nantucket on the gridiron for the first time in 8 years. The class of 1986 could never be regarded as the “richest class” there ever was, nor could it even be called a good fundraising class, being plagued with the dreaded “what happened to” syndrome our first two years. (What ever happened to those bumper stickers we were to sell and what happen¬ ed to the trash cans we were to distribute?) Our junior year was marked by our successful prom “In the Air Tonight.” Our thanks go to the handful of people whose determination and hard work made it a night to remember. Our years at MVRHS fell nothing short of being rich, rewarding and above all fun. And as they say, time flies when you are having fun.
