Panic sets in. 7:45 Hit the bathroom and finish dressing, since your alarm failed to be alarming and caused you to be half dressed. 7:55 Enter homeroom and receive five pink slips from Mr. Kopec ... he doesn’t believe the popular baseball rule that the tie goes to runner. 7:59 Put on your sad face and run to track down Dr. Custer. Supposedly he is a baseball fan (tie does go to the runner) — don’t forget to whine ... Unfortunately, it’s football season and all’s not well. Especially in light of the newest pink slip you will receive for being late for Mr. Sharkovitz’s English class. 8:08 Mr. Sharkovitz makes you take the test you missed the day before (due to a trip to Boston to analyze cafeteria food). Unfortunately, you left your English book on the Islander with one of the lovely counter attendants so you couldn’t study. 9:26 Get caught walking in the halls by Mr. Lemenager while trying to find your lost contact lens. Oh no, another pink slip. 10:22 Get into a fight with your friend because it was his English book you left on the SSA boat. 11:30 It’s lunch time and a riot arises — a foreign substance is found in the mystery meat — so foreign that the building must be evacuated during lunch period and a science team is brought in to analyze the new creature discovered in the chili surprise. 12:35 It’s Biology time and also the time for dissecting lab squirrels. Miss Holden asks for your obser¬ vations and you state that it looks like the contents of today’s lunch. You then excuse yourself and run to the bathroom. 1:30 Leave the bathroom and go to Mrs. Brown’s office — she tells you to lie down among the many students suffering from Calculus-testitis. 2:00 Go to last period Government class and get punched in the nose by Mr. Ross because Bruce ducked. 2:45 Oh oh! You’re late for work. You jump into your car, forgetting about your deflated tire, and at¬ tempt to drive off, but don’t get too far. The wheels fall off. Whispering vulgarities, you jump out of the car and run with lightening speed towards the buses. You trip over your friend’s English book, which you thought you left on the SSA boat, you’ve missed the bus! Your termpaper for Mr. Sharkovitz takes flight and lands in a mudpuddle — the day is done. CLASS HISTORY As senior year comes to an end we will all remember and treasure those fond memories that seemed to have made our four years at the M.V.R.H.S. flash by before our eyes. When we first arrived at school, we were all expecting the worst. (All the stories about lockers that wouldn’t open, not finding your classroom, and of course those dreadful upperclassmen). But instead what we found was a rather cheerful at¬ mosphere that we would also become a part of. Sophomore year proved to be even better. We were in charge of basketball concessions and that along with several dances helped to increase our bankroll which was rapidly growing. It also gave us our nickname of “the richest class.” With the help of Mr. Sharkovitz and Mr. Rice, our advisors, along with our class officers Nicky Cushnie, Kathy Young, Grace McHugh, Dawn Arcudi and Tracey Sheehan, we knew we were going to go places. Junior year was not all fun and games, it was actually rather difficult. This was the last and most important full year that we would have to prove ourselves to that place that seemed so foreign to us, college. But it was not all work. After all, this was the year of the prom. Our healthy bankroll became even healthier with our bottle drive and the concession stand. WE were on our way to a terrific prom. “As Time Goes By” was held at the Harbor View. The prom queen and her court were Paula Gibson, Ellie Carbon, Ruane Sibley, Grace McHugh, Kim Pachico, Troy Harris, Lara Porzak and Dawn Arcudi. Another memory we’ll never forget was the telephone fire and that famous message — “Please ESCAVATE the building! Time flies when you’re having fun. Now we’re seniors. Well that place that seemed so foreign to us last year is soon to become our second home. Unfortunately we must say good-bye to our friends and leave our first home so that we can move on and make new friends in our new home. We the class of 1985 dedicate our yearbook to Mr. Daniel Sharkovitz. What can you say about an advisor who stuck with you for three years, guiding you through each year’s hectic fund raising? Our class thanks Mr. Sharkovitz for surviving all the long afterschool meetings; his initiative in getting us the monopoly on the basketball games con¬ cession, our most steady source of in¬ come, his patience; his guidance; and most of all, his positive attitude towards each of us and our ideas. He was the kind of person who would go out of his way to put all others aside and help someone in need, whether school or social problem, he was there for you. The honesty he showed all of us by ex¬ plaining that he couldn’t advise us in our final year exemplifies the sincerity, with which he led us to become one of the wealthiest and productive classes to pass through the purple doors.
